I'm a dutch polderboy, born in 1981 at some hospital in Amsterdam. I usually climb in windmills, eat cheese and enjoy playing with tulips, but I don't smoke pot. I like Anime, little girls with pink hair, Kasumi, Race games, RPG and Retro arcade, but also ambient/trance music.
During the 'later' early years in existence of the good old demoscene community, I joined up with the demo music / net label Trance-o-Mania in its final years of glory, where I was releasing club/trance and dance stuff made with Impulse Tracker 2.14 under the handle Nekativ.
May 6th, 2000 I started a demo music / net label myself with my old demoscene buddies at the time: Mummra and Cykiq. The project was called "Dream Wave Project" and its releases can still be found at scene.org, but the original website on dreamwaves.org has already died.
During this period I experimented with Psy Trance, while fooling around with new software like Acid, Psycle and Buzz. But as new software continued to expand the horizons of many and Dream Wave Project died in May 2003, I went away from the whole music demo scene, as I felt I could not keep up and didn't enjoy producing tracker based music anymore.
The first few months in 2006 I registered at CTG Music, where some of my old Dream Wave Project buddies where still around. I released 2 tracks made with Renoise, ironically another tracker, but it was great fun being back. However, I removed these tracks later as the Easily Embarrassed ambient chillout project with Peter and Nick (plantbane) launched on July 8th, 2006 and I thought this was the real deal to put my time and creativity on, while my own old tracks just sucked.
As of 2007, I won't be using my Nekativ handle any longer and I'm not planning to revive it anymore, even if I happen to do a solo project in the future. The demoscene character dies with the handle, as I'm now trying to become active in the world of independend labels and artists, with the little Easily Embarrassed project that I'm really proud of.
Please check out Easily Embarrassed tracks under Plantbane to which I have contributed and of course visit www.embarrassed.nl some time if you like
Thanks for reading my boring history and please have fun with the music! |
