Check out my videogame-coverband No Miss which I'm active with atm!
The project:
What genre is this? I suppose it is some sort of electronic music, but most of the time it has more in common with rock-music. A friend of mine called it "video game rock" once and that kind of makes sense when I think about it. I'm very inspired by classic video game soundtracks from the 8- and 16-bit era (when video game music really was video game music!) and it's hard to not get influenced by all the hard rock- and metal-albums in my record collection. When utilizing different kind of lo-fi-sounding synths to get a "retro" sound, I think "video game rock" is a pretty accurate description of what I'm trying to do. It might be an odd genre to make music in, but one of the main goals with all music I make is to make something unique, something that doesn't sound like everything else you hear, something you'll be able to recognize when you hear it.
The me:
I'm a 21 year old swede who makes music on his free time. I started out as a guitarist but when I later began to search for new outlets for my creativity I began to work with music sequencers and started up this little project. I am, as I mentioned, very influenced by classic video game soundtracks (I like composers such as Yasunori Mitsuda, ZUN, Alexander Brandon, Lee Jackson, Yasunori Shiono, Nobuo Uematsu and such) and hard rock/metal (I mostly listen to melodic death/thrash, hardcore and progressive rock). I've studied both sound engineering and musicology.
