Artist Comment:
I have always liked old school Reggae and more modern Dancehall, so I decided to go ahead and try to make a Dancehall track by remixing Bounty Killer's "Fed Up".

I took the acapella and arranged it over my beat, which features a typical dancehall rhythm with sonusesque horns and a cool spanish guitar. I know about the slight distortion in places in the vocal - this is due to a dirty vinyl rip. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a cleaner acapella, so this one stays for now. Personally, I think it gives the track a nice real warm and crackly touch. :-P

You can read the lyrics here. You can also listen to a clip of the original here.

--------------SOUND------------------
Cool, crisp vocals and groovy bassline. Percussion sounds great and the guitar melody is awesome. The little horn hits are a nice touch, and i agree the (very slightly) scratchy vocals are not bad at all. they do give this track an 'old school' quality that fits well. I do not listen to this type of music regularly, so i found it very interesting and refreshing. sweet.
-------------QUALITY-----------------
The quality of this track is outstanding. the stereo field feels nice and wide, nothing sounds muddy, nothing is fighting to be heard. if i didnt know better, i'd say i was listening straight from a released CD. truly pro work here!
-------------OVERALL-----------------
Unfortunately i could not listen to the original, (the link does not seem to work). oh well, i thoroughly enjoyed this track anyways. Its rather a simple track, but each individual component is perfect. sometimes, simpler is better. I love the drums and bass. Bass sounds nice and groovy and is never overpowering. the guitar is also a highlight. lovely melody there. is that a sample from anywhere, or a live recording of yourself? whatever it is, it is excellent. this is an awesome track and you have meshed the vocals with your work perfectly! Man, this is a keeper. Awesome :D

Whoa! A dancehall track that isn't violently and disgustingly homophobic?

EXCELLENT! :slayer:

And yes, reggae = cool.

I like your remix better than the snip of the original I heard on your link  Sometimes I hear some problems with tuning, everything doesn't fit together as smoothly as I'd like... but then again, I'm not a fan of dancehall music.

Yeap!!! That's not popular! I think it was worth to try though!

I realize that this isn't a style that's very popular with people here at CTG, but I would really appreciate any comments! :-P
