Our very first E/E song we ever did. This one is included in our "From Sunset last night to Sunrise this morning" mix. You can still download the very original stand alone release from here :)

Review this song! - Song Reviews (6):

ArtistAukikco (psychedelic) 01 Sep. 2007
The first two minutes of the track get me thinking that this might be the most beautiful of all of the songs I've heard from you. The warm pads speak of both sadness and strangeness in a way I've rarely heard.

The entering of the drums is quite surprising, but works. I really love the tight sounds, and when the beat really gets going, I'm already entering a sort of extacy. The transition into a 4/4 rhythm was something I really hadn't expected, but oh how lovely it does work after all.

It's strange how this song doesn't even have that much elements, and some of the elements feel static, but it still grabs me and takes me somewhere far away.

Maybe it would be even better if some of the synths would be more alive, shifting and transforming rather than keeping the same faces from the beginning to the end. But here, this is a minor problem, because the song just works.

Oh, this really rules. Love your work.

What could I say? This is probably the best ambient track (though its genre says "psychedelic") I've met since Virgill "Elements". You might disagree with me, but to my personal taste this track is just the finest example of how to create really atmospheric and ambient track. The beat, the melody, suppoting lines - everything goes in a perfect accordance. I can even hardly find any thing to complain :( Beginning from composition up to mastering this track really RULES!

I even would not describe it. It is a "must" download. You MUST download it!

--------------SOUND------------------
Great pad there in the beginning, with some awesome percussion. Killer bass and some good vocal scratching. I'm reminded of that 'In Dub' CD by Hallucinogen, one of my favourites. Awesome dark feel to the melody all of a sudden. Lol, now it sound like Dark Soho. Man, this is just amazing, what anticipation! Awesome kick strength, and when that main beat melody comes in, i am in (dark) heaven. Cool synth melody comes in later on, makes this track drive forward. Main melody comes in once more before the track ends in the same dreamy note it started...
-------------QUALITY-----------------
Really, i dont know what to comment about. Although i can only listen to the track with headphones at the moment, there is nothing here that needs fixing. Good stereo panning, lovely reverb, lovely everything.
-------------OVERALL-----------------
A dark trip. F#cking loved it. you guys have a new fan.

[.general] A loverly psyambi song :lovemusic: When I saw the original cover, I thought this would be some rowdy dance tune or whatever and refused to download it. Now, I find myself wishing I'd gotten a hold of this thing sooner. The title doesn't really fit the song atmosphere, in the future I'd suggest spending more time working out a title, as it's one of the things that people first see and thus directs their judgement towards "do I want to download or not?" :) And also, I'm sorry for this terribly late return review. I got sick for several days, and am just now getting back into the game.

[.melody] Like in any good ambient song, the melodies here progress from the atmosphere. The actual melody persay is minimal, but keeps the song atmosphere flowing wonderfully. I would suggest using some other progression than the typical I-I-IV-I you've got here. The I-sus2 thing does work nicely with that spooky whistle thingee, but more chords wouldn't be amiss here, or a keychange in there (or even a grounded bass - think any trance song) to keep the interest going.

[.bass] Nice deep bassy sounding guitar sound. The lines are simple, but very suitable towards this sort of song. I was mildly disconcerted to hear my own line used here, as one of the e/e team mentioned to me earlier :)

[.atmosphere] That intro pad is precisely like the one in Jammyman - Up to You. Nothin' wrong with that however, it does sound good :excited: There's all matter of atmosphere here, I particulary like the bitcrusher work in the slide into the main body of the song around 3:30 or so. I'd rather not pick out all of the little parts that I like here, but instead leave them for the listener to discover....

[.percussion] Uhhh.... awesome? All manner of chittery and squeaky hats, thwacking electronic sounds, phat kick and snare... oh yeahhh. I might suggest tossing in a ride cymbol or something, but quite hontestly, I don't think this bit could be improved :)

[.feeling] Grooving ambient phychedelic with several nods towards Twlight Zone style lead sounds... this is uber to the extreme. I postively love the amosphere here :excited:

[.teh score] 9.0 - "This is extremely cool music which you love with all your heart, it has everything, yet there's something small missing, could be that extra tom tom, or that extra voice, but who cares if it's this good?" Ah yes, and a ctg favorite atm :)

:mail: You have a new review!

- atmosphere/ambience
- feeling
- originality
- I like the pads

- the cover
- snare a bit too snappy for a presumably "organic" song.
- see below under "strange glissando-synth-ish percussion fx thingies".

Comments
Let us see now, hehe :) The intro pad sounds a lot like the one used in Jammyman's song "Up to You". Also, shit, it reminds me heavily of the intro to Sigur Rós' album "Takk...". Because I love that album, this is ofcourse, a very good thing! :D

Now, fun aside, I'm gettin' serious. The pad uses some sort of weird filter and a heaps-load of reverb. That's okay with me. Now, the percussion. At first minimalist, but it builds up. Again the samples used are great. I particularly like at one point, how the laser fx complement the conga beat. The bass is upfront enough to be noticed. This means you've nailed it this time  The voices sound like they're from the Muppets. Only chopped, sliced and fucked. And scratched.

I like the bell sound, it is very spacey. Does a good job building the "wide-space" feel of the atmosphere. Then, another string comes in and the chord progression takes a detour towards freaky/weird/scary-land. You guys must stop watching those cheesy Dutch horror movies :P But ofcourse, this isn't a fault.

A few synths come in, and a strange glissandoish percussion thing appears :?: When the drums come in, I think the snare is a bit too snappy, you might wanna go for a more organic-sounding one

This song is definately psychidelic-influenced. Heck, I can even see myself passed out with a bong with the song blasting out of my headphones  The beat.... eh... I expected a more trip-hop style beat. But I got a houseish one instead. Well, cool way to both break the expectations and lazy out on the beat. I suggest adding back those cool conga beats in the intro or, if they are present, loudening them cos I can't hear shit :tsk:

This track is probably the best representation of an acid trip since Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" that I've seen on CTG so far.

The final analysis
arrangement 10/10
bass 10/10
beat 9/10
creativity 10/10
drums 9.5/10 (note: the strange weird glissando-synth-ish percussion fx thingies bother me a bit)
feeling 10/10
melody 9/10 (note: the melodies are minimalist yet there isn't that dreaded feeling that they're supporting minimal ideas)
samples 9.5/10 (note: again, has to do with the glissando synth percussions)
skills 10/10
sound 9/10 (note: kick almost deafened me when accidentally volume was too high in one listen.)
structure 10/10
quality 10/10

How I would improve
1. either:
a) obtain a more organic snare drum
b) take the snare and filter it.
2. erase the glissando-synth percussions.

apart from that, :bravo: on the good song and  cya guys l8r.

Hello!

My first impression: Hey, it's an absolutely different song than i bargained looking at the song cover ;) Psychedelic is the right genre and the right signal of the sounding and the whole mood.

Instruments:

Percussions: Nice quality. I especially like the great panned delays. And the rhythms fits here very well.

Pads: You use a lot of pads and it would be hard to tell my opinion one by one. I didn't find any problems with them. My favourite is that fades in at 1:50. Oh yeah, and it gives the melody the most psychedelic taste.

The bassline: Hmm, i have always got problems with bass(thats why i usually don't use too much bass in my songs). But... It's perfect here, maybe sometimes a little bit loud, but it depends on the gear...

Melody: It's...hmm, psychedelic :D Great mood and great athmosphere! I love it!

Mastering: I can't find problems here. Maybe you use sometimes too much delay and it makes the sounding of some instruments not perfectly clear, but it's not a big problem.

Overall: For the first hearing i wanted to give 8,5-9, for the second, 9-9,5, and now i think 9,5 is the right rating. It can be heard that you worked on this track a lot, and that you have great skills. Great job! :bravo:

Did away with the butt slapping anime girl cover. Replaced with an embarrassed one. Still a placeholder until real art comes up :) If there ever will be...
ArtistPartySan [10th. July 18:06] [85.204.212.105]
okay, Nekativ. No prob with the bass things.

*points finger at VP* VP you've been drinking to hard again, haven't you?

Thanks again for another review PartySan.

Chuckle @ cheesy dutch horror movies :)

Oh and thanks for pointing out the bass being better here! I'll take the knowledge with me for upcomming projects and try my best to do the mix like this one, or better yet, improve on it a little again :)

Btw, the cover is only a placeholder which we added while being drunk. I've asked around and will probably get a better cover from a graphic artist soon.

Same goes for other project.
Membernekativ [8th. July 15:04] [80.126.1.201]
Thanks for all the fairly positive feedback so far :)

I've moved the obscure dutch lines to a txt file and linked to it from artist description, so we won't have to bother unbelievers with it :D

Btw, to anyone who downloaded this file before this message: There was a baaad typo in the mp3 filename.

Please rename your local copy to 'Easily Embarrassed - Organic Gardening.mp3' if you care :P .. It's fixed for the next downloads now.

Man, last night was a weird night for doing a release ya!

Anyway have fun with the tune ya.. Cheers!

It's 12 AM, I woke up. The man with the giant hammer is hitting me on the head and laughs @ me. Oh yes! We launched a new track on CTG!

When I saw this I was a bit in a shock. I really think this won't do any good for our Plantbane/Easily Embarrased reputation. But it reminds me to a night with lots of drinks and quite some fun. So I guess we should leave it the way it is now.

Hopefully people don't take this shit too seriously. The track is serious though. I really think it's a great start for our new teamup Easily Embarrased.

Enjoy the track!

Do you guys actually remember writing that story ? ..

Anyway, impressive track with great mixing (how do you get so many sounds together ?! :) ), as expected.
