Our initial story we posted on original release:

Epic story about a magical monster flying in the sky. 27 men in dress, all having magical powers, start casting spells at the creature and on eachother in a dark, magical, psybient kind of place.

This song was first released with dull master in august.
A few days later it was remastered with a little shine.

In November we redid the whole mix as well as another new master blending in with our other tracks in our Darkened Emotion mix.

Darkened Emotion EP was officially released at Cardamar Music in 2007.

Secondary link is file is hosted on Twisted Sessions, which is the darkened emotions mixed version from 2006

Primary link is the official 2007 release at Cardamar Music of Darkened Emotion containing the best version of Magic Fields available

Jeffrey says:

I was working on this track with Peter, while my bro was on holiday. We did something like the first 4 minutes of the track, which is a rather dark ambient trip I guess. Then my bro came home and he just loved the stuff we did and wanted to add a few things of his own. Piano thingy came into play and it opened up a whole new world to explore! So we finally end up with something around the 8 minute mark, yay ;)

Nick says:

First hour when I got home from holiday: "I ran upstairs to our "studio" room, put on the pc and while I was waiting till windows finally boot up I did some nervous shaking moves with my legs. I couldn't wait to hear what Peter and Jeffrey had made within the time I was gone (which was around 2,5 weeks). I was quite amazed with my first impression on the first 4 minutes. I added some new things into the track and this same evening my bro came home and we worked together on this project.
After a few more days of producing I can say that I'm very satisfied with this track. Hopefully other people think the same thing as I do.

Peter says:

The whole working process was rather smooth. When we created the first 4 minutes everything just fell together very easily  Too bad I couldn't be there when Nick returned of his vacation, they practicly finished the whole track the day I wasn't around. I certainly _love_ how it came out though. I think this song was a good example how 'triple-coops' should be made :beerchug:

Well, starting with an excellent, deep atmosphere again. The vocal samples, again, fit perfectly (and it's nice that there's no Terence McKenna here; as much as I enjoy his endless speeches, that's been heard enough in this genre). Thumbs up.

Really nice warm subbass, excellent mixing overall, the sounds just go so well together that I just can't go on not smiling. How wonderful it is to find such so finished sound as this one. Great choices on synths and pretty much everything in this song.

I was going to write about how there could be even more personality and diversion from the borders of the chillout genres, but no, I'll have to take that back since this stuff just works perfectly as it is. Brave disengagement far from set rules are always nice but well, this really brings its own style into perfection (and I don't mean to say it doesn't have a personality of its own; it does). I love it.

Just excellent stuff, I'm really enjoying this. What a joy to be able to devour such great psychedelic visions.

Hello!

First impression: This song is a big "wow" :) I saw in my mind that big monster flying. This song is my favourite from you guys! Great arrangement, great "story" told in melodies great mastering great instruments!

Instruments:
So, i'm thinking about telling my opinion about your instruments one by one but hmm, there is no point about it, because i found everything just perfect. I tried to find bad things some days ago when i downloaded it, but haven't find any yet.

Melodies: Nice floating melodies. Pads are fading each other, the piano sounds great and very good dreamy and magical melodies played.

Mastering: What to say...I can't imagine that this could sound better on my headphones.

Overall: Hmm, this was a short review, but it's hard to write a review for a perfect song. So let's make the way for this song to the first place of the charts! It's a big 10! Impressive job.
:bravo:

Easily Embarassed - Magic Fields (remastered version)
Review written by Provos / Jonathan Curry

:) Ahh, perhaps it was just me, but the original version seemed somewhat dry and quiet. Perhaps that's why I held off reviewing it for so long... hmm. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Blah, enough of that (s'not really true anyway)--now, down to the nitty gritty. This is a rather different mood, we've got some funky miramba thingees and all manner of trippy sound effects. The delayed vocal bits don't really seem to fit the song description, or the title. Ten thousand somethings human mind / ok, we're gonna do the magic something? Hmm. I was expecting something more kin to The Matrix than this weird discordnant trippy shizzle.

 Trippyness and general groove after the 2:00 mark or so. The marabma line around :40 or so was really unexpected, I personally thought it ruined an otherwise good atmosphere, but it does fit nicely with the piano line around the 6:00 mark. Bassline sound around 3:00 is lovely, nice patterns as well. Nice 'n epic. Oh yes! And the distorted square wave thing at 5:05 is postively brilliant!

:?: The piano line was particularly intriuging for my ears, I quite enjoy the reversed sample techinque you chaps seem to use in your melodic lines. However, the piano itself seems to be swamped with murky verb (if such a thing is possible with all of that high freq. boost!), and I can't help but feel that some panning changes (especially on the reversed samples) would help the psy vibe here.

 Inital drum vibe. It sounds dry and vaugely... ehhh, I dunno. Maybe it's just the way my tastes run. Things don't really start to pick up until 2:38, but the kick still feels way too tight compared to the swirly hats. And that cheezy laser sound! I'm not gonna even comment on that ;)

Possible Improvements
More panning changes. Right now, everything feels very static and not very stereotastic (except perhaps the shifty running hats, but those don't really count) It's most noticible with the piano line - sounds great on speakers, but when you put the headphones on it doesn't really push you back in your seat. The same with all the other little FXes in the piece. Try experimenting with autopan, try automating a whole bunch of panning settings with a controller and jam over the entire track (although I'm not sure if you can do that with a tracker or not)

Also, perhaps a more indirect approach to the end of the piece - atm, it ends without really satisfying my ears. Also, remember that I'm not suggesting you change this piece (definately not!), merely offering suggestions to consider for future pieces.

:D So, final score: 8,0 - very good (practical translation: a song that makes you go yeyeahhh, I want more! The piece itself may not be perfect, but it's got that certain je n'sais pas about it that makes you want more by the same artist)

- 4:30 - 5:20 [Verse1] A little break, a piano is being introduced
- 5:20 - 6:54 [Verse2] Piano plays slowly, sometimes with a roll-effect

Mood:
- Dreaming
- Fantasy

Arrangement:
- Good variation of the instruments and effects in the background
- The start position of every single voice fits
- Wonderful transitions between the different parts
- Stereo is used to create the unique atmosphere

Mastering:
- Instruments have a good quality
- Track uses nearly all frequencies from high to low
- Clear seperation of the instruments

Positive:
- Well... what shall I say? Everything fits on this song.

Negative:
- I already wonder why you didn't get a review earlier ;)
But now I know... Just a perfect track!

Many thanks Mate! Great to hear you liked it that much :D

Heh and now the cheers from Mate and Provos for getting this one on 1st place in charts makes me all soft with tears and everything. Man if I could, I would buy you guys a beer now or something :)

Would be fun to be 1st place, but I think this track is having a hard time to achieve that atm, heh :D
MemberProvos [18th. August 16:54] [204.116.89.73]
soooo close to first on charts.... puhleaze! go on baby, you can do itttttt! bump 'em off! bump 'em off!

ahhhhhh

Thanks provos!

Hmm.. Panning eh? I had suggested to do widen some things and softly pan some psy elements, which I worked on. Now when listening back in headphones it seems as all those small pannings I automated, didn't even come out, really :(

I'm usually afraid to use heavy panning as it can easily offset the stereo image so much it gets annoying.

Maybe we need to go back to stereo delay which I kept for the elements I included / worked on rather at center instead of making it delay from left, right, left, right, etc. :P

Hehe, after trying once I sweared to myself to never do pot again, so probably never will happen if I speak for myself :)

Alrighty I just uploaded a new version of the track.

Kinda scary getting a 10 for the old master and then 'fixing' things you don't like yourself about it.

It's there now with different multiband setup. If any of you early downloaders find your copy being rather low pass / dull, I think I got it right now, with the right spark, while not getting things overly too loud.

You could grab a new copy if you like.. or not.. whatever..
Membernekativ [7th. August 22:35] [80.126.1.201]
Wow a 10?! I can't believe it!

Thanks oi01, glad you liked it.

Thank you oi01, I got very emotional when I saw your review and your rating... I'm glad you really like it. :col:
Membernekativ [7th. August 8:54] [82.217.141.37]
heh she'll be a good girl Masenka, keep it up :D

anyway, hmm I listened to the result of this track on multiple different gear now.. I think I need to fix a minor thing in the multiband to get a spark in highbands going..

I'll probably upload a new master of this track tonight, overwriting the current one.
ArtistMasenka [6th. August 10:42] [88.6.173.254]
Lol, all of the plantbane´s songs get a forum of their own don´t they. well Nekativ a grandpa at that age? and I thought I was being young when my Gf gave birth to our first daughter. allready teaching her to like Plantbane, and of course daddy´s music!

"Grandpa Nekativ survives Dance Valley 2006"

That's something that suits me I suppose ;) .. Who is old heh :D
Membernekativ [6th. August 0:31] [80.126.1.201]
I learned to drink thanks to vodka!! Beer was at first only a matter of being more cheap at parties. Yet I drink it like water now ;)

Cognac is not my drink though, but that doesn't mean you're old. pfuh, I'm even older actually :)
ArtistMasenka [5th. August 23:52] [88.6.173.254]
Amstel is allready better, though I prefer a good glass of vodka or cognac. maybe I´m just old
Membernekativ [5th. August 22:56] [80.126.1.201]
haha.. meh. Peter and I did this track with Amstel beer at first, if that helps any :)

I like Grolsch too, but Heineken is still prefered over here I suppose.. And we took a lot of that stuff the past few days  !!!!
ArtistMasenka [5th. August 22:52] [88.6.173.254]
I hate Heineken.
Membernekativ [5th. August 22:36] [80.126.1.201]
Buuu. Whenever I'm in charge of doing a release I screw it up.. The thing wasn't properly ID3 tagged. I'm screwing around with the download now, so if I happen to kill any of the current running downloads, which the current two guys seem to be doing, it's because of me updating the file :(
