[Quick Note]
I was amazed to read that this your first song. I didn't download it at that point, but ratings and the notice that this is your first song blew me away.
[Quality]
When I listen to the song, then I hear quite a lot of presets, if they aren't all, and what's most important they aren't edited.
This isn't much for a problem at all, as I can hear that this your first song, and we all started out like that. I know I did.
However, I want to give the artist some pointers on how to improve in the near future(although I might give a little bit to much information here, but its better tobe complete, then you leave the artist guessing).
When an artist makes a song, he tries to make songs in such a way that the different sounds aren't harming eachother. The human ear is designed so that it's hard to hear different kinds of waves, when they are on the same tone(frequency). Tone is measured in Hz, and an equalizer controls them. An artist wants to make sure that the sounds that he uses aren't on the same frequencies because that will make it hard for listeners to hear them. In the high frequencies(treble), it will not matter that much when you have multiple sounds on the same frequencies.. On the low frequencies(bass) it really matters quite a lot though. In your track this means that the basskick really isn't getting through that much as in proffessional techno-music. What you want to do to get ppl to hear the kick better, is to make sure that all other sounds don't have low-frequencies. Grab an equalizer in orion, add it to all sounds, and make sure that all low frequencies in all instruments besides the kick and the bassline, are killed. Make sure you kill it completely by useing a high-pass filter.
The process in which you kill frequencies on sounds to make room for others is called mixing. It's the hardest thing to do when you make music, since there is ALWAYS room for improvement. (you can PM me if you want more information)
[Musically]
What I believe that is most important in a techno song, is the beat. What I miss in the beat in this song are two things: Elements, and a groove/drive. It's not a shame to miss these parts however, when I compare your track to my first one, then you should be really satisfied
Anyway, when I compare this to the tracks on this site that are really good, then I'll just have to be fair to them and say that this isnt good enough. A few quick advises to the author to improve:
1. Use more elements in your beat. It's quite normal to use weird samples as beat-elements. All you've got to to is make it short and you're done. You could also use more hihats, you've got one open hihat now, so why dont you add a closed one?
2. Add a little bit of reverb to your drums. Make sure the reverb-settings are different from each other. It will make your beat sound so much more lively. (also, if you want more information on this, give me a PM)
3. Buy TONS of samples. The samples that you've used just don't work together. Pretty much all of the samples are really short, and therfor you'll get a clonky beat, instead of a really nice groove. Buy the samples, instead of downloading them, because the freeware samples are complete shit, and you'll have a REALLY hard time to find decent ones.
[Overall]
Quite bad when you compare it to the music on this site. Quite good when you've noticed that this is the persons first song. I hope you'll continue to make music, I'm sure you'll be able to make some really great tunes in the future. |

A great piece of work for a first song very impressive. A good use of synthesiser especially using the copper and silver sounds. These are difficult to work with and usually come out sounding like mush. There is a hint of the 80's in here. I like that a lot. A somewhat dark undertone but there is enough of a melody to lighten the mood.
There is a feeling of being on an ethereal road trip of the mind. The beat is fluid throughout the song. The sound and quality are excellent. There is no breaking up of the song. The sound quality flows smoothly. A good edition for any rave party, or any party in general. Good use of the drum beats to alternate between synthesiser and beat of the drum. The drums, amazingly enough, seem to provide the melody when up against the heavy synth sound.
very creative.
