Didn't feel it baby...
Last Time starts off making a statement that it's going to be an energetic sob. It does this with an instrument with subtle alarm like properties and some hats. Subtle is the word as it could be annoying but isn't. We get some modulation on that instrument, a sweep and a hard beat plus bass. My feelings prior to the melody are that while everything is technically sound, there is nothing I'm hearing that really stands out as being new or interesting.
My feeling of un excitement continues with the melody. It is just ok and not very dynamic. My interest does perk up at about the 1:49 mark. A lot of the accompanyment is pulled back, and you just get the first line of the melody slowly getting filtered down. But then it abruptly is out and I didn't not care for that at all! But then the "nothing" break happens and I'm thinking that's pretty cool...
I really like the intention when the song builds back in, but I think the execution isn't good and there are just too many mix problems. Too bassy bass drum, weak bass etc, messy automation(?), wierd filtering...
The song eventually brings back everything that was introduced from the start, with nothing that much new or interesting being added to the mix.
Boy when stuff gets pulled away that bass drum just hurts...
Ok I wasn't much of a fan of this song. I think there is a lot of polish that still needs to be done with mixing and automation, but I think more importantly the song isn't that interesting.

A song which i am forced to stream to hear. Perhaps rightfully so as compression dictate i skip the track in entirety let alone suffer the 3 minutes necessary in downloading and than adding to my "trance collection." Song begins with over repetitive synths, and inaccurate un-effectively equalized hats. Heavy uncompressed and distorted kick, destroy the what little sound frequency's remains undamaged. Synth pattern is a bore after first 10 seconds. No filters no efforts in relieving boredom. A high noted synth now enters. Not particularly cliche, but not uncommon. Good sound, need defining, needs effects(like much else). harmony is introduced in this becomes rather cliche. Compilation of all instruments are easily redundant. Hats too weak to support overall beat. Bass sounds very undefined and muddy. One filter takes effect as we break. Kick seeks to torment listeners as its relentlessness refuses to harmoniously break. Effect of interest is brought in providing the tracks only real abnormality the trance genre. What sounds like another muddy bass is hoisted aboard as the excruciating drums seek to wreak a second round of excessively dominating, relentless havok.
The aggregation now progresses with the same high pitched melody prior. Same muddy bass, same high hat, same main pattern. New repetitive synth line attempts to redeem the sounds emitting from this swamp, failing. Synths become more apparent as mud is washed in the form of the "song breakdown"; Simultaneously being the only time sounds and beat together, provide any form of variation.
Nothing defined in clarity, save the moderately high pitched annoyances. Nothing really standout or exceptional.
A level of gratitude now stems from my understanding your effort in saving listeners, the computer space necessary in the storing of a song of such quality. |
