Another of my new age songs. I tried to recreate a submarine environment both with the rythm and the melodies. |

When it comes to Awesome's fans, there seem to be two camps: those who think his best song is "Ancient Stories," and those who think his best song is "Aquarium." You can count me as being in the first camp, but wow, does this song impress! The atmosphere here is truly amazing, and is the main draw of the song. The chosen instruments and background sound effects are very effective at establishing an aquatic theme, and amazingly pull it off without a single watery, bubbly or wavy sound effect anywhere, no splashes, no whalesong, nothing that you would hear on its own and think, "Oh, that's an ocean sound." But when it's all assembled together, the aquatic theme is unmistakable. Creating such an atmosphere without resorting to a single cliche is an outstanding feat. In fact, with this song, Awesome managed to create a cliche of his own, since many other trackers for years afterwards used this song's samples and techniques to create their own aquatic-themed songs. (The trance-laced "Submarine" by John Douskos was hands-down the best of all of these; grab it if you can!) But make no mistake; "Aquarium" is the original. The melody itself is a little perfunctory and slightly repetitive, but with enough variations and permutations to keep things moving. The melody also isn't the main point of the song; it's the atmosphere, that wonderful aquatic atmosphere. When something gets copied as many times as this has, that's often a sign of greatness. Such is truly the case here. |

Wow.
This track is so good I just have to give it a review!
This track is awsome!!! There's not much to say about this track because it's near perfect! I never thought Fasttracker is capable of producing such a great sound.
It's very interesting and stays interesting from the start to the end. Using bubble sounds as percussion is just amazing!
The arrangement seems like it could not have been any better. The structure is magnificent!
This song never sounds old! Even if you listen it in another 30 years I doubt it would sound aged.
This would make an excellent movie soundtrack even today!
This is, with no doubt, one of the greatest songs that have ever been achieved with a tracker.
This song is truly a classic. It's an honor to have reviewed this track. |

I thought I had reviewed it. Anyway! WOWOWOWOWOW! This is the best track ever! No doubt! When I first listened to this track (a long time ago) I decided to use trackers to compose music, because I thought it was incredible to makes such a piece of art with a freeware. I've listened to a lot of tracks apart of this one and only "Catch That Goblin" can make me give a 10 on year 2005, 2004 1998 or 2045. That's for sure.
The atmosphere created here is simply amazing and rythm (tipical of awesome's work) makes this track even more enjoyable. Perfect is the word. I would only give a 10 to the song I know it's the best. And here it is! Thanks Victor for letting us have in our hard discs and CDs such an incredible piece of scene art.
Ah! Saludos desde Castellón. Estamos cerquita. |

I think ive heard this before of you, but I can review it this time. Very nice and plesant introduction. Overall arrangement is pretty perfect. Not boring at any moment. The only "negative" thing I can fiend here is the quality, and the quality isnt even bad. Its pretty fricking good. but still, thats the only thing I can find that could've been done better. Beat is plesant as well, very chillout and in the background followed by a very unoticable bass, like in unreal if you know what I mean. Unreal feeling as well. Anyway, 3 times hurray for this tune |

Wow! i'm impressed this is cool. i'm a metal guy and like raw music but listening to this eases my mind and relaxes me. i've listened to it a couple of times and it still is great the intro is so cool it's like i'm swimming in the ocean of calmness. after the intro the piano (or whatever) part comes in makeing it only sound better and after that the song song stops for a breather and again the piano part comes in again. the song evolves all the time only a couple of repeats. really creative stuff the sound quality is excellent listened through headphones was a cool experience 'cause you could clearly hear alll the layers of this song. a innovative song a lot of elements One of the best songs on CTG. this song is well put togeather |

In my opinion this is one of the best song I listened in the demoscene. When the song begins, you know that you are going away to find with something special. The atmosphere that is created, submerges to you completely in oceanic waters. A trip to the depths. The lyric version it´s great too. Thanks Victor for your music

Ah. This module I haven't heard for 2-3 years, and I must say, my back still freezes when I listen to it.
There are quite some restrictions in Fast Tracker 2, and thinking about the outcome of this composition; it's just stunning! So small in size, yet the sound picture and quality is like a modern easy listening. The arrangement is executed perfectly, making both the musical values and the values of interest at the top all the way throughout the song.
The creativity, the general feeling, and not at least the atmosphere makes me want to hum every single bit of the creation. It's really impressive, and in my mind the best composition Awesome (or Awezoom) have made so far (and dare I say "and always will be the best"). I've fell in love with this song so many times now, I'm wondering if I'm going to marry me with it..
Of course, there's no such thing as a perfect song, and e.g. the sound quality could have been better; but come on. I mean, this is the closest thing to perfect in this genre I think, and will always think! I give it a 9.85 score (aka 10) |

If you don't listen to this song, you might not live the rest of your life properly.
The perfect arrangement of bass, beat and other samples is backed by aquatic sounds of high quality, which give a waterish feeling as you dive down into the deep ocean that is music...
The structure of the melody, mostly in minor, I think is suited to the song, and the clean guitar is innovative in combining a pad. Pure creativity!
I think the bass is a bit overshadowed by the other instruments, but that's not what's wrong.
Nice skills, Awesome.

PS If you liked it get the MP3 remix "Falling Star". Watch my review there! You'll be overawed (or it's your money back-- he,he just kidding). |

It's been six years now since the release of this scene classic, and one thing is certain... this piece stands the test of time. If you have not heard this piece yet, you don't know what tracked music is about.
This is one of those songs that you can look at the title, and listen to the song, knowing that the title is appropriate. The underwater effect is done nicely by differing types of sound effects. The melodies are very memorable, and are supported nicely by strings, a nice bassline (which adds to the aquarium theme nicely), and a flowing percussion track. The arrangement in this track is top notch.
If you listen to many of the samples in this piece, you will clearly hear that the artist was ahead of his time, as the samples still stand up today against other tunes coming out. There is only one sample I can find that even sounds dated, the one playing the melody in the minor chord scheme, after the clean guitar's lead melody. But the important thing is that it still fits the theme, and that's what makes this song as incredible as it is, the samples support the theme very well.
There is a lot of feeling to this song, and the artist did this all in just over 1MB. This is a fine example of a well tracked tune, and if you haven't heard this one, you need to download it now. |

Everybody here seems to know you and your songs from somewhere before. Well, I don't so let's change that:
I already starts really nicely with a lovely atmo and really cool effects which are - as PPH said - very well used as percussions. The melodies are great too. That's my style! Also great choice of samples except for the one that joins in at 1:30. Sounds really C64 but that might just be b/c I listened with Winamp and I know sometimes that may cause problems. So I won't bitch about that and that leaves nothing I can really complain about...
Great melodies, atmosphere, effects... great rating!
Keep it up! |

This is my absolute favorite song from you. I've been listening to this song for years now, and i still love it! The ambience, the atmosphere, the beats, the mood, the feeling, the beats, the melodies, the emotion, the song, is absolutely amzing. Arrangement is absolutely perfect, so is quality (for xm). I love this song, and always will! GREAT JOB. I think this might just be my first 10.
Cheers

This is my favorite piece by Awesome. I really love the way he used those bubble song as if they were percussion instruments. This accompaniment is great. The way he plays with the timing of the string chords, delaying them and playing them some rows after what they were supposed gives it a nice sensation too. The main melodies are quite nice and the structure is excellent, with well achieved contrasting parts. The best achievement here is the way timbre is treated (nice use of bubbles as percussion). This is a very good piece indeed. |

I don't really remember this one, but I've heard it before I can tell. I'm not sure but this is maybe my favourite song from Awesome/Awezoom.
The quality can be better (I recognize some of the samples and they feels a bit "worn-out") but it's still enjoyable and to be a 5 year old tracked song it's very good. So no dropping points for that - which probably would be the case if it was in MP3.
However, the feeling here is very nice. The effects/beats and strings fits very well, although not the guitar and synth stuff as much - but I like those things the most of all.
Anyway, the whole song is pretty much the same all the way trough, maybe some contrasting part would be nice. But well, still I enjoy this song. |

Ohh yes i was hopeing that you will add this song, i truly was . This has to be my favorite song from you and one of the favorites from tracked music in generaly, hehe ok now what do i think about the song..
The slow ambiental info with great backing fx is simply great, it creates such an athmosphere from the very begining and it keeps it up all over the song. The big crash fx is great introduction for a beat which is well...as most of the things in this song simply great.
But what i think is the most special part of the song is the non stop ocean alike fx background sound which really gives you the sea feeling
The synth melodie is well writen, nicely melodic, all what i maybe miss is a piano but well you used a similar instrument later on (some sort of pad) which i think is maybe even better pick then a piano would be, it atleast makes the whole song even more original.
I clearly see this one as movie theme and it could work great in some demo aswell.
Well i really dont have anything to criticize here, even the sound quality is on high level it doesnt really show that it is tracked song, maybe there is just a little bit of distorbtion on some samples since quite some of them are 8bit and this means it is hard to keep them clean from noises.
Overall this is one of the best tracked songs and when i will make a system for "favorites" i will put it on my no1 place. |

This is huge.
Samples, working, tracking, mood, instruments, all! Even the synth samples fitted in this underwater song...
I love youe beat btw. Kind of slow and nervous together... great.
So, i repeat me, this is not overrating, i love it.
Thank you for making Skale and this song!
Cheers from Belgium!

Again, I'm listening to this song. It's almost creepy
What can I say?
I've reviewed this before.
I listen to it again.
I kind of feel the need of reviewing it again!! That's just a creepy feeling! Every time I listen to this, it feels like I explore something I've never seen or heard before, but I've heard this approx. 100 times before. I'm being dragged under.. .. And yes, there it starts over again. It's repeating now.
Can I do this?
I'm giving this song a brand new rate: 10 / 10. LoL... and now I feel pathetic.
Shame on Thee, Victor.
