Nice set of acoustic drums (kick, snare), tho i'm not convinced it would have been my first pick from the sample library. I'd prefer a sharper and slight pitched up kick.
Mixing is decent as well, the pads feel lush and all that jazz, but it gets a wee bit crowded at places like 2:30 and the way you deal with that saw pad. What is it's purpose by the way? Is it a filler to make the listener stay and avoid the track from getting repetetive, is it part of some complex harmonics that i overlooked?
The chord progression is relatively simple, and from a personal standpoint i don't find it particularly interesting. Quite the opposite. Overall the samples are of good quality and work well with eachother, but on the other hand they're not very original either.
I like my dubstep with a techier/darker twist, and this is what makes it so hard. I'm completly in the dark here (figuratively speaking lololol), and when i select my rating i always try to be as objective as humanly possible. I try and look at tracks from different perspectives, but i can't see this track standing out in the infinite sea of tracks released each week.
Someone please prove me different and i'll gladly change my rating. Perhaps this is a masterpiece and me being a fool for missing the point.
