The beginning was interesting. At the very first part, I was expecting some loud shit to happen lol! Sounded like it was going to be a loud and party typical Dance track! Seems I was wrong! Those first real samples made it seem as if this were going to be a classic Dance tune! I'm automatically hooked! When you start the beat, it's quiet and dark! I'm loving it! The arrangement is awesome here! At the first breakdown, I found it too be a little unexpected at first and then I though this would give a good chance to help build the track up and to get it going!
Then, I was wrong... again! The pianos come in and I am mildly disappointed. Is this going to be another weak Robert Miles dream Trance track? It appears my theory was correct. That's right, this is Dream Trance. Not that it's a bad thing, however I was hoping to hear a well done dark and Progressive Trance track with classical elements! That just goes for my personal tastes. Call my tastes bland, I don't care. But that's all entirely based on my personal Electronic music preferences!
I will say the arrangement is awesome! I mean, the song itself is awesome! The beat is pretty good and fits the tone of the melody perfectly! The main and background samples are amazing! They still give this track a classical tone to it for sure! The outro was unexpected entirely! I wasn't even looking forward to one as I don't think there was one... My impression was that either this track is unfinished, unreleased, or the artist just didn't put any effort into slowing and breaking the track down to fit in a decent outro to give a "goodbye" feeling.
Altogether, this track was pretty good. The arrangement was awesome, the samples were well used and all in the right spots and the overall melody was classic! The only real cons to consider considering is to create an outro! That's the biggest flaw IMO. And the other is that this track could probably go for a good mastering job. That's kind of true for all OpenMPT tracks; every time I listen to one, the mastering job isn't really spot on how I like it. This is just a personal flaw... but keep the dreamy aspect down! You had something dark going there and it sounded awesome! As soon as you introduced that dreamy piano, all dark and classic Trance interests and thoughts were lost. |
