My contribution to DAC iimitation compo. I tried to imitate WAde aka BasilWar. . . :) There is a story for this one too, I might type it later. Now it's too late, I'm going to sleep ;) :D Wish you like the atmosphere...

OMG the guitar is epic.
The melody is quite simple but still beautiful.
And a dark pad again.
Looks like you are a friend of dark stuff.
And now comes an Asian flute and the descent beat again.
I like Ambient for some reason although it has zero energy compared to dance, hardstyle etc :P
It's good for a change, you can learn back, close your eyes and dream about a life besides your job and all the stress of regular life etc.
I am also wondering how the tracks sound like with newer software and I bet you also have more skills these days.
I'll give you a 9.5 for that.

Surely this is one of the best tracks I've heard here. The atmosphere it creates is very well done and rythm is very special, not an ordinary percussion. Voices are great and every instrument has its just volume, panning, effect, etc. Wow! I'd say it's almost perfect. So, overall this is one of my favourite tracks now, I'll give you a 9. If I were you I'd feel very proud of having composed this great track. Good work!

How should I begin this review? Well, because it is hard to explain everything I want to say I make the unoriginal plus/minus-categories. So, here we go!

Some Highlights in the song... :lovemusic:

+ The overall mood is nice.
+ The effect at 0:35 is very cool.
+ The music arrangement is great.
+ The sound quality are flawless.
+ The voice-pads are the highest higlight of this piece

Personal suggestions of Improvments...

- I simply don't like the drumloop, it is short, simple and overused... Although it works in it's own way it feels like it doesn't fit to this dreamy slow atmosphere - too stressful. Try to variate the beat more as well, and add more drumfills between segments.
- The deep snare doesn't really fit to all this, a more lashy and crispy snare would work maybe. And it goes slightly out of rhythm at times.
- The length of the song is too short, well that was how I felt it at least. Try to add a couple of minutes and another theme in order to impress even more.
- I'm missing some kind of lead, but as N.D. says, the mood reminds me of that it is not really needed that much.
- The strong kick (playing backwards) together with the crash, which end the song, sounds more like an end of a trance tune than a slow chill out song like this. A calmer ending than an abrubt ending would work better I think.

... So, while the music is excellent, the percussion in the meanwhile is messing everything up! Now it sounds like this is unlistenable, but that's not my point; I just think it could be improved. However, this is still very enjoyable to listen to so go ahead and download!

Wanna hear the story!!! :col:

Ok, tracks like this always make me want to review, not to tell how it could be done better but to tell the artist what I loved so much  Well, there are some minor things but first things first:

The guitar in the beginning wasn't bad I guess but here's what I might have done: You have those lower notes playing through and then some higher notes once in a while like at 0:27 (phew I'm so bad at this :wall: ). Anyway, instead of using the same guitar with higher notes it would have also worked nice with a slightly different guitar or a piano maybe? No real flaw but it just slipped my mind.

The drums that join are basically very good, you gave them that deliberate lowQ sound which I just used in my last track. It works well here and the rhythm is quite good, too. Only that open hat doesn't seem to go that well with that effect imho, it just doesn't sound as deliberate anymore :D I don't know what to think about that reverbed percussion thingy that sounds like half clap, half cymbal (Damn am I bad at this  ), hope you know what I mean. Well, I find it makes the track too hectic, I feel like it's rushing the way you arranged it which takes away a little of the chillout feeling. :cop:

Ok, I think that's enough complaining. Here's more things I loved. Like Void Pointer said the voices are just awesome  Where you get them from? The other pads are great as well, massive atmosphere you created! I also love the effects that you put after the breaks like the cymbal that pans from the left to the right (I can't hear that now coz I'm listening with one speaker only :D But I heard it yesterday in the car and it sounded great!). Maybe a little too loud but still pretty neat. Not to mention the lovely exotic flute! Would've loved to hear more of that one. It's great what power the track suddenly creates without getting "out of hand" as a chillout track. Oh, and I almost forgot the most important thing: Beautiful melodies! :bravo: Though there is no catchy main melody you are still taken away by what you hear, that's the beauty about ambient and chillout  The main sound is created by the chords but also that acid line and the guitar do their job with nice decent melodies.

Wrapping things up I would have probably give you a 9 when I first listened to it. But after listening quite a few times I noticed some more minor things that bugged me a little as mentioned before. Still I enjoyed and still enjoy this one very much, this would be my favourite track from you  The chords, melodies, and soundscape is simply amazing! You made my day when I had to study all day long last week and when I found this track :)

More of that please! :bravo:

Loved every second of this tune, this has some very good sound production with some beautiful samples from the nice flute and the strings even the vocals are blended in very well and just comes across so well and very relaxing .....

arrangement Love the arrangements in this beautiful lilttle track from Randor starts off with a cute lil guitar and what sounds like a hush vocal from this point it just keeps on building up the section at the 47 second mark i did think the beat came in just so quick, but you soon for get that as this track unfolds loved the overall atmosphere with the strings and that cute flute being blended in with some nice gentle synth's and that nice vocal,if i had one complaint it is this is just way to short add another 2/3 mins to this tune overall very nicely arrangemed .....

My overall thought's on --Sub Rosa-- is one very good relaxing track that just sets the right atmosphere, and i guess this is helped by the beautiful sound quality's and the choice of samples.nice intro is the build up for this tune nice guitar's very well thought out the part at 44 seconds bring in the beat line which was not to bad also in that section that nice flute.the track does start to take better shape at 1:18 mark with some nice and relaxing strings that just sets the right amounte of atmosphere, the lilttle break at 2:18 was nice then it's back on to the main melody's with the strings and voice/strings till tracks end.Overall this is a beautiful track to sit and listen to just close your eye's and let this tune take you away to a far away land a must download .....

Did I tell you that I really like this tune? The gitar in the intro was a little simple when you first let me hear the preview, and you fixed it... And amazed me with it... Really like the choirs as I told you before :D

I could listen to whole album of this sort of music, heavenly voices, atmospheric blends of instruments beautifully put together, and didnt overdo the shakuhachi just enough add that bit of spice....superb.10/10
