You have a new review!
- the atmosphere
- nice feeling
- good melody in the marimba
- voice used a tad too much
- mixdown, too many trebles.
Comments
Yes, this is, simply put, an outstanding chillout track. Why hasn't it been in some mixes?...
The basic arrangement is great: the marimba melody is nice, the percussion's rythm is just right, and the pads in the background have a nice feeling to them. The vocals, I'm not so sure. They're good, but I feel as if they should be used a bit less
About variations, I like this. The variations are small during the main parts, and sometimes barely noticeable. Fools the listener into thinking the song's standing still when it's actually moving
The song is also very short, which eliminates any danger of boringness, which typically arises in monotone, repetitive songs
The ending is abrupt, and not good. Should be longer
well, that's that. Overall, really nice song
The final analysis
arrangement 8/10
bass 9/10
beat 10/10
creativity 9/10
drums 9/10
feeling 10/10
melody 7/10 - no central melody besides the marimba.
samples 9/10
skills 10/10
sound 8/10
structure 6/10 - a bit stagnant and unvariated at some points.
quality 10/10
How I would improve
1. use the voice a bit less
2. you've also got a point, a lil' too much treble
Ja mata
Edited 6 feb. 2006: raised by +0.5; after many relistenings I realized the ending isn't so bad |

This track has a really great warm feeling , perfect chillout music.
Those , at some points , stuttering vocals really set that warm atmosphere , combined with those vinyl sounds and the distant pads.
I like the jungle-esque percsussion you used , it gives the whole track an exotic feel.
That's the strongest point of this track , all those little details and pads give this a very powerfull feeling.
That little stop at 3:19 just woke me up Fits perfectly at the end.
Very very nice work , now i really want to hear your other stuff.

i think this is pretty good material, you should make an mp3 of this, i think i would even be interested using thsi in my ctg chill mixes if i do another one.
the vinyl sounds and feeling are great, they give a nice warm feeling. also the vocals fit here will even though they aren't that leagal..
i think the soundquality is a bit wussy and you should boost the hi end a lot. also the stereo image is quite thin, widern up it more.
those delayed filter percussion are great, aswell as those congas and all. some nice pads here and there which also need more clearer sound and widening.
it's hard to say how this will sound when you export it to mp3 and master it a bit, since i'm listening with winamp plug. but except that quality issue i find no flaws here and this is some nice relaxing chillout with good use of those vocals. great work. |
