an emotional expression, simplicity over complexity to express it all better.
after the J/M/T/M review I decided to explain a bit...
This song is about me and my girlfriend, this song is made half a week afther she went abroad for her school... I made this song as an emotional expression, to explain my feelings in other forms than words. And I think this is as close as I can get to expressing the feeling I have. The emptiness, and simplicity of this song... the fadeout on the end - it's all done on purpose... Emotions most of the time are quite simple imo, that's why the song is simple... But it does exactly what I want it to.. I hope you can feel the pain I'm in from this song... if so, please telle me as a comment or as a review, I don't mind either.. I'd really like to know if you can feel my thoughts when listening to this.
As J/M/T/M said, the song is leaving you behind... that's how I feel right now, left behind by my girlfriend.. Glad to know she'll be back someday, even if that is weeks away from now.
(don't let this story affect your rating if you review, I just felt it was necessary to tell something about the background of this work - I think the J/M/T/M review is off the hook to be honest a low rating, for a good reason - but he did hit the spots I tried to explain through music!) |

Simplicity is good I think... but this track isn't overly simple at all. There is alot here, the song is short but and really streamlined, compact. Just enough to support the ideas and themes of the song.
The mood, the meaning, the atmosphere: That's what its all about right? Immediately the atmosphere is created, and I dont have to read your song commments completely to get the message. Definatley and emptiness and a longing for something beautiful. The piano parts is very pretty, and the pads and bassline are so cold. They work directly against each other which is what makes this track special IMO.
As a house track, it works great. I always tend to think of forward motion when I hear a straight beat... its one of the reasons its used for dance/ trance/ and so many other genres. Its the way we walk, the way our heart beats and our lungs breathe, a simple straight beat, only increasing or decreasing with fear or anxiety, happiness or excitement, but still straight 4/4.
So I think of you thinking of Anouk, she is gone but not forever.. and you have to simply wait. Wait in a constant and steady rhythm, just breathe and live day by day until she returns eventually. Is this not what the song is about, and/or the purpose of music altogether?
The more I ramble on, the higher I want to rate this track. So I will hush about it and get back to reviewing.
Sound quality is good, volume is a bit low.... could use some compression maybe... but also the hats are a little loud for my taste and the bass just doesn't punch through.. so maybe a little work could be done here. But overall not much to complain about.
Wonderful track. |

Hi! Here is my contribute:
Okay, what I thought when I got this track? mmm, low rating, okay maybe this piece sucks...bla bla bla... But this time I'm lucky, yeah, this song has many good things and only a lack... it's short... it seem like an intro not a real song...
structure
The song begins with a filter in the main and a flat dance rhythm then the bass groove, nice moment here, really lovely bass... but after a break the song start again with the same groove, the same music, no variation...mmm I'm not agreement here!
I'm sure about a good composing a nice structure but a flow, few variations, few idea just a really good loop!
feeling
My feeling was good I really loved this disturbed melody, with a light taste of experimental, but just the time to organize my idea about it, and the song going to the end...
I suggest to use it to make some extention or remix |

[Melody]
First off I hear a very nice bassline fade in accompanied by some strings, then later on some really lovely house style piano chords also kick in and blend into the mix, at this point, Im happy as I can be about this song.
The melody is then varied using some generic progressions, and Im somewhat disappointed since I was expecting a melody would come in with a cathy house theme or something, but the song just faded out slowly leaving me behind...
[Percussion]
The percussion begins very catiously with a shaker and a bass which seems to be EQed a bit too much towards the tremble side of the audio spectrum, in other words: it doesn´t fit well with the songs theme.
Later on the beat follows the melody and kicks into a higher gear, but still, its just there in the back not actually doing anything special.
The beat then fades out just like the melody but the difference is that the percussion is weaker than the melody.
[Overall Impression]
This song definently needs more of everything, it sounds half finished and Im kind of sad since I see what potential this tune really has, I feel this tune needs more of everything, the intro however was splendid, too bad the rest of the song didn´t turn out that well!

ok let's start... i had this looped like 10times in my player and really nothing left to my mind, so it's very good background music, very relaxing stuff. i like the beat it's really good, your hihat bd and snare really work together.
the feeling is very minimalistic, but guess that's how you wanted it, i would have personally put the pads a bit more louder. the bassline is very nice i like it. the song is a bit short though...
anyway overally nice background music, didn't have much hooks that would make me listen this more focused but as a song for chilling this goes just well... 8/10 |

also in the review you said the song is leaving you behind... well that's exactly what this song is about... I got left behind...
another note... it was less than 3 hours work on this actually... but i felt this was as close as i could get to the emotion i wanted to capture... and once again, your review only supports my on that... |

hahaha you hit the spot exactly J/M/T/M... as i said... it's an emotional expression...
feeling incomplete, miserale, lonely, missing what is needed to make it perfect... with your pointers this makes me feel even better about this on the EQ-ing, there is only an EQ over the overall mix, which should be adjusted a bit to boost some mid range frequencues... |
