A downtempo song with crappy mastering. Enough said.

I finally downloaded this song again, since I lost is before somehow... and after hearing it I finally remembered it... enough to even predict some of the insanity that comes later in the song.
Definately my favorite genre from DDspeed: downtempo. A lot of damn fine stuff here as usual. Not my favorite DDspeed track by far, but some really great atmosphere.. and of course I love the way everyhing fits together so clean.... there a scertain simplicity in style your music has... usually just a few parts that really work extremely close together.... everything so dynamic and tight... with superb melodies that come from every part.
Skyscraper is yet another demonstration of your refined skill, and still a unique track that adds to your diversity.
Specifically, my favorite part of this track is 2:09 to 2:10 ... just love the sassy little chords there... it sounds a bit too cheesy when the brassy synth plays it later though. But the sassy thing here is the key... the whole track has that feel to it. The song just knows how damn cool it is.
Also, love 2:16+ ... love the way that synth is filtered... and its so quiet and subtle it makes you listen hard. When you listen hard.. you just get surrounded by additional percussion, which keeps constantly dynamic and interesting all the way.
And again, the dynamics of the music is great as always. Not the "sound" dynamics... but the composition. Never boring, always changing. Melody goes from one thing to the next... and when the lead lets up, the bass takes over.... typical DDspeed style but never unimpressive.
My only major complaint with this track.... the cheesy finger snaps. For some reason I just never have liked that sound, but cheers to you for making them almost cool.

That was a nice surprise!
I like the sounds here very much, especially the percussive mayhem in the second half of the track.
Very original synth sounds, nice groove, although some vocals or more distinctive melody would lift this track to high heavens.
Maybe it's the mastering stuff - bass is a bit too in front.
I love the clarity/ quality of your samples, sound - that's what I really appreciate.
Tell me, WHY have quantized the el-piano part?
It sounds a bit too 'computer genrated' due to that (if u know what i mean)
All in all - one of the best tracks I 've heard on CTG since.
I'll be listening to the rest of your stuff |

Ping!Pang! U dont know whats that? Just delivery...
Nice track "brother".Simple thing but makes my dreams come true.I dont know what to say bout this genere-as U said-"whatever" will be the best idea
Technical/compo things:
Pretty interlude-I like this one much. One guy said thats track sounds like any DDspeed tunes.Right! (and U must to know that is my first of your many compositions ).I like this kind of experimental sounds-any backgrounds U used in da track.Beat is simple but nice.Great moove with those bongos or that kind of dromz. First plan in this song is bass-thats good.I like also the bass-line,pretty one flow.Maybe its littlebit to loud, but it isnt big foult. All da synths, pianos and other parts r well maded. for me.Melodies-not bad.Downtempo'ing.Heh
Oh now I know whats that-some kind of experimental, nothing more and nothing special.Really
Overall-very good track with good atmosphere 8/10 |

i really enjoyed this one a lot!
after getting off from a slow start the tune really takes off and gives you a very enjoyable listening experience. lots of semi-jazz elements, using 7th chords and neato keen bass/drum lines. drums are pretty experimental which adds a unique flavor to the song.
sound quality is pretty good, as mentioned earlier the bass sounds a bitt "dull" to me.. then again, i am not a big fan of bass anyhow (all my base r belong to u).
for anyone who enjoys a bit of jazz, a bit of experimentation, a bit of weirdness, and last but not least a quality tune.. i highly reccommend this one.

Intro = that sound is sooo DDspeed!
Very cool and creative percussions in this one. It almost felt overdone at some part towards the end, but it's a nice contrast to some of the other calm parts.
The song doesn't feel repetative thanks to the small changes that occour, but when analysing a bit I notice that the chord progression is very limited. No real progression. But it doesn't prevent this piece to be an original and unusuall listening experience. To me this is a typical DDspeed song though.
The bassline is maybe mixed a bit loud, but not really something to take seriously. Effects are added perfectly, together with that beat, making this song a little special. And I like that snare. All in all, very nice piece |

Review
Stylish!
I think this song could easily perfectly fit in some kind of jazzy/fashion club, one of those places where you quietly sit at the bar counter, asking the barman a whiskey, a cocktail or whatever you want.. then talking with other people, tap the feet when listening to the groovy musical background..
So, about the feelings you made me feel: thumb up! Absolutly a groovy beat and a stylish ambience...
The percussions are very good, combining linear drum patterns to some interesting offbeat and fill-in sequences: samples and envelopes are good too, really a great work!
What I liked best are the e-piano (wooow so coool!), which is perfect for giving a nice backing padded sound to the powerful bass, which plays some interesting and cathing grooves...
About that: I think you should have mixed it better... really too loud and overwhelming the rest in more than one point...
Nice variations from 2:35 with banging synths!
Drums here are perfect: first, enhancing those synths with an offbeat rhythm, then calming down to a more regular and cool beat (so smooth, really loved it!)
The fadeout sequence till the very ending is nice, slowing down the groove, and removing various sounds...

My bass sounds have to cover a wide spectrum range, because I don't want them to be covered by the rest of the mix. I made this bass to have lots of high harmonics so it's always clear what it plays. The bassline is most important part of this track after all.
And anyway, now that I got used to my headphones it doesn't sound all that bad to me . |

Agree with xa fully on the bass.
It's not actually too loud, but just muddy in a way because it isn't concentrated in the bass range enough. It blends into the upper bass and lower mid range and sounds muddy because of that. So it's mostly just an EQ issue rather than a matter of volume balancing.
Have to tone down those hihats though.
Anyways, otherwise a brilliant track. Very impressive. |

Ahh, download finally worked Very good tune this: 8.5/10
About the bass issue you brought up, I can hear what you're saying, but I think it's very nice and groovy as it is If you really think it must be fixed though what you want to do is concentrate the bass instrument more in the bass end of the spectrum

I like the experimental drums on this. Could use some additional experimental variations, but I believe these are the best elements. The bass is pretty cool also.
