STRONG POINTS : The positive aspects of the song
  • 1. Good mood
  • 2. Some originality
  • 3. A few, but very good elements
SUMMARY : The impression of the song
A song that took me completely by surprise! In the first half it sounds weak and amateurish, and you can clearly hear the simple composition in the production, but then in the second half, the song lifts itself up and into an almost divine state, which absolutely convinced me. In fact, it gets better everytime I hear it now. It's hard to eplain the feeling of listening for 5 minutes, waiting for something to happen, but when it does.. you'll understand what I'm talking about. The track scores high on the absolute original and emotion-filled signature in the second half, but there's still lots of work to be done, so learn from this and improve on the parts I've commented on.. and you'll be rewarded with more experience and a much better production. Good work so far, and good luck!
[rated as electro/ambient crossover]

WEAK POINTS : The negative aspects of the song
  • 1. Chaotic composition and melodies
  • 2. Step-by-step production
  • 3. Overall amateuristic sound
SUGGESTIONS : How to improve the song
As the track starts off, it becomes clear to me that most of the first half of the song consists of step-by-step production, which means that every different patterns repeats 4 times, so there will always be 4 patterns that sound the same. This is not only a very bad way to produce a track, it also makes the listeners imagine the rest of the track in their heads, so that it becomes obvious and boring. The starting melodies and basslines also sound a bit chaotic, and if you're trying to make harmonies out of dischords, you've got some way to go. The composition doesn't make sense to me in the first half of this track at all, with misleading direction and a overcrowded and naging soundscape. The length also annoys me, because you don't have to repeat so much. Remember, less is more. Too much repeating. From 2:55 however, the song takes a different direction and becomes very.. good, actually. The instrument you introduce at this point sound awesome, and reminds me of a distorted guitar-solo in an industrial setting. It has a brilliant signature, and does much for the overall sound. The mood improves tenfold, and the song gets meaning. Later, you introduce yet another set of guitar-like instruments to support the solo and this works very well. The mood changes and becomes dark and desperate, and this is a pleasent surprise. The instrument introduced from 5:20 doesn't do it for me, it's focus hugging and annoyingly loud and flat. Even so, the track is much better in this second half, and near the end it even borders to great or outstanding. Guitar-like sounds introduced near the end yet again, and it sounds beautiful.. The outro works okay, but that sudden stop at the end could be faded out to make it good. The play-length is an issue here, but as it proves, you fooled me into thinking something about your song, and then changing my mind halfway through. There's still lots of work to be done productionwise, improvement of transitions and melody-builds, but as it turned out.. there are some really convincing elements here. Replace some of the more sharp instruments, tweak and master a bit, and you're there. This could aslo be an ambient track. Good work!
