Artist Comment:
This is my first ambient/chillout one. I don't even know if it's good or if it's a crap. Please, tell me the truth. ;) The female voice tries to be the Earth's one, complaining and crying. After the tsunami disaster I thought it was the answer of our hurt Earth, complaining about all the damage she's suffering because of our bahaviour. Feel free to review it!

I absoloutely love the sentiment that you are putting forth with this piece, and its exceptionally well presented.
The effect of the vocals which are used, creates precisely the effect you cited within the description of this tune. Gritty, emotional and thoroughly effective, the feeling and imagery is all there. Perhaps what is most effective with the vocal componants is the occasional harmonic 'clash' that occurs between vox and accompaniment. Even though the main melody/direction of the tune is relatively straightforward, these moments of harmonic diversity provide great interest and are effectively representitive of the hard-hitting emotions and ideas you wish to acknowledge.
Its a tune of contrasts - and thats the idea, I think. We have the organic sound of ethnic vocalisations, combined with the modernist sounds of 21st century music, culiminating in a challenging and thoughtful tribute to the worlds problems.
And all the the while, there is a disturbing, not quite settled undertone raging throughout the whole piece.
Its clever stuff, and certainly makes one try to focus on some of the global problems that currently affect us all.
Very nice work indeed.

Hurray! Pluks is back :D

The beginnin vocal is great (though as a standalone sample there is too much reverb IMHO)
The back vocals are great (sampletank no?)
The beat is great, but repeatitive, you should have made it more progressive i guess
The Melodies are very good, like happy sometimes
The piano is for sure sampletank, i'd bet =) and it's great.
The tribal part is good, but the congas are special to my ears. Good anyway
The mood began a bit psychedelic because of that, the singin and the back stuff. Very wierd but good mixing
The ending is too common, i mean the fade out and that's all, too bad

OVERALL : A powerful song that deserves more actually. I mean, it's very repeatitive and as I know your style, i'd have seen guitars and a "new" part after the second part. But anyway, a first try out... and for that, it's very good :) 8 too!

Hi,

i listened to your song, and the first thing that came into my mind was Future Sound London's "Cascade".

The vocals are not understandable, but as you commented this is earth, crying about what we did to her? - for me this is my interpretation. The song creates a very sad mood, there is minimalistic percussion on it (303 i suppose?), but this fits perfectly into that mood. At the last part where the piano is added i have the feeling it gets a bit off sometimes.

All in all i would say - this is musical art - some kind of poetry told by music. Impressive - i find it harder to express something with such little instruments, than with many.

It's a pity that you wrote the interpretation of the voice in your comment, because i would have loved to find out it's role on my own because this songs definitly tells a story.

Justin
P.S. Check out my song "Rythm of Life" - it tells the story of a whole life - maybe you can comment on it, too (even tough its totally different style).

Well, voices are supposed to sound tribal and enigmatic, so they really are not perfect. Thanks for your feedback! ;) You wouldn't believe how I got that voices.

I liked it... I think you should have taken a little more care in adapting the melody to the vocals you used, because in some places it just shouds a little off. But other than that... not bad at all. :)
