Again one of my favourite pieces from the whole scene! I recorded this playing my Korg EC-150 digipiano.

Really great work  Awesome composition by Awezoom and great performance by XtR!M  Sounds like this song was screaming for a live interpretation :) Now let's wait for the Gopher-fully-orchestrated remake! :ye:

oh, sorry - I missed that sentence about Victor!

Genial! You're a skilled pianist.

As I wrote, Victor heard it and liked it.

I agree that it is maybe a little bit faster then it should be. I really love the part that starts at 2:00. But, of course, very nice playing! Did you show it to Victor? He is available.

I recorded this directly from the AudioOut of the piano to the LineIn of my Soundcard, using the Windows Sound Recorder in CD quality. Afterwards I just removed the starting and ending silence and normalized the wavefile. I saved it then directly to MP3. No further editing done, i wanted it to be the natural sound of my piano

Thanks for your comparisons to the original. Me too, I miss the violas and all the orchestral background sounds. But what can I do if I just have two hands? :) And as I played it live without editing, it's natural that some tones stand out more than they should (like those bass sounds). Nobody is perfect.

Anyway, I enjoy a lot playing this piece, so I thought I'd share it with you all

Thanks for your comments!

I like this song, but I honestly think you rushed through it. It's a lot faster than the original, why I find the original packed with so much more feeling. Especially the part at 1:24 seems to pass right by, and the loudened bass notes give this section quite an abrupt ending.

The 'break' between 1:48 and 2:10 is great though, and 2:01 sounds almost exactly like part of the score from Contact (same with the original, obviously).

I really miss that viola (?) at 1:09 though, why I'm really not sure this piece works as well on its own. Sure, it does give it a new touch, and you no doubt did a good job, but still...I prefer the original, even though the piano sample quality in this is arguably better.

Just watch your distortion levels though...if that's what it is. The louder notes sound like they were clipped during recording.

Also, just to be really picky, there's a prominent 15623 Hz tone throughout the entire song, possibly caused by a CRT monitor. MP3 encoding and my headphones obscure it a fair bit, but I can imagine it being quite loud in the uncompressed file. I'd recommend to EQ this out, or turn off your monitor before recording. ;)

Otherwise, nice job. :)

another note: I think this is more in the genre of "Ballad" than "Easy listening"

And I agree with DDspeed. Try making your own song for piano :D

Hey, how about composing your own tune for live playing on the piano? Now that would be cool!
AdministratorxTr1m [11th. November 18:15] [84.58.28.71]
:) Yep, i tried to stay loyal to the original.

And that's the sound of my piano, I used two layered sounds. A Grand Piano with a soft EPiano over it. Sounds nicely imo.

Awezoom heard it, he really liked it. Said that he didn't hear the original ages ago.
ArtistPartySan [11th. November 17:44] [217.73.160.158]
Nice playing! You certainly stayed true to teh original...

hmm, the tempo changes have remained intact :)

Good sample too. The original sample was ok, but a bit lq.

I think Awezoom would like this ;)
