just wondering if any of you expirienced artists out there have any tips on creating
"alibi - eternity" style bass sounds.

the problem is i want to reach low notes with a vst ive got "Oberon Poly-8" but everytime i try to create something with a low octave it either sounds too muffled and crackly with the cut down (how i realistically need it) or when the cut is high it sounds like some kind of acid freak out lol

it may just be that even though ive release tracks i still havent grasped the idea of creating nice basslines :?: lol, if anyone can give any tips, i would be much appriciated as i want to further the quality of my music as well as being consistant

p.s. am i missing out on a better vst? plz dont suggest Pro53 as u guys already know i use that one lol

use a sample , like we did in the classic trackers , it creates exactly what u need as a result ... the sound will not change , after that use some compression on the bassline and you're done ...
My experience with vst is that it doesn't create great bass .

Mark is right, that's the simpliest way. Another way is use a regular 2 osc synth (Bassstation, Junglist), tiny overdrive and compression on fly. ;)

Yeah i think using pre made bass samples is best solution. For instance when you generate your bass in Reason using synth you will loose most of its power when the sound builds up, if you use simple wav bassline it stay strong as it is, dont know why thought :?: :coffee:

But ussing synth to generate bass as wav file is ultimative solution here
To make it strong also on low octaves you should run it over equalizer and boost bup low and mid frequenzies (before you save it to wav).

finally!
It was about time that someone started a topic that this site should be all about. Mark is right though, bass could be done best with samples.

Wow, never knew about that, always thought vsts were the one thing to go with. As soon as I discovered vsts I dropped all samples... I usually have some problems with my basslines too, thanks guys/Mark :bravo:

Yeah I thought VST was better than samples (on all aspects) as well.

hey thx guys, grea tips :P

so u guys are basically suggesting i create samples, instead of using the synth streight off, lol i think u were right acecream when i usually do tracks, because im puttin the bass as a streight synth it does get chucked to the back and looses strength (if u guys have heard my music, ya will know what im talkin bout lol)

thanks again

Better used pre-recorded samples from sample cd's , sample sites or other (tracked) songs
