Are the admins aware of the recent spam attack on the news forum?
It's basically loaded with spam at this moment.

I suppose the admins do not care that spammers are destroying the CTG forums.... Hmmm....

Working on it. I've deleted a couple accounts and reported the spammers to stopforumspam.com (one of the databases we use to filter spam). It's not a perfect process, and the tools to remove spam from the forums are unfortunately painful.

Good!
Maybe I sounded a bit impatient, but spammers cannot be dealt with soon enough...

And because we can't deal with them soon enough... well, captcha in the forums. :-/

Not the ideal method, as it's pretty annoying, but on the other hand, it will keep spammers away, or at least the bots. And we'll get used to captcha, don't we?

perhaps a "confirmed" real user could be given a token or flag that bypasses the captcha
this I think would be the best of both worlds. |

| I guess since we usually post once a month or so, it shouldn't be much of a bother. |
