Well I have this little idea... I was going to do a graphic and show how it would look but Im too lazy... so I will just try to explain it....

When an artist posts a track.. there will be 2 options for him/her to pick from: Option #1 would be "Standard Review"... which is what we have now... 200 letters or more blah blah blah.

Option #2 would be "Advanced Review". Clicking this radio button would open up a small menu full of checkboxes.... each one representing an "attribute" of music ... "Style", "Progression", "Percussion", "Sound Quality", Structure".... whatever. This would allow an artist to pick a custom review template for his/her song.

After this was done... on the songs page there could be a field for each option the artist chose... a field for "style", one for "progression".... and so on. There should also be a "Overview" field that is always present. Then raise the minimum letters required depending on the number of fields. After the review is submitted it would be automatically formatted with a heading above each paragraph!

This would allow those people who like in-depth reviews to get only those kinds of reviews for their tracks!

Does this make sense?? Bad idea? Good idea? Ace? If you guys want I will create a graphic example for you to ponder over :D

Ok i must say that i do not plan to change the revieing system anymore. I dont see what we would gain if we would have two seperate ways of reviewing and also commenting. People can do that allready, they can write extended reviews, they can form them in any way they want, so i dont see the real reason to put up some special form and to say those reviews are "advanced" and others arent. The whole idea about reviewing is to simply give feedback to artist so that he can improve and also to listeners so that they can decide if they want to download a song, and i dont think it would make any difference how the review was written or how the review is called if the final result would be the same.

What could maybe be done is an easy editor where you can write just the same review only that the system would convert it into nice shape on its own (separated comment windows, ratings...), that is something which i can and im willing to do if people are interested.

Frankly, I see no need for that.
There are two sides to each coin.

The plan is to improve CTG (and autmaticly previews) , not to change everything , what you suggest is way to complicated and not needed at all .
We just need to improve , strting in my opinion with gathering a goo dstaff !

I feel kind of lost here, but I think obScene's suggestion sounds too complicated. Because, in that way you collect iether simple or advanced reviews ... And that feels wierd.

If thats the way people wants, I rather choose acecream's suggestion, which was a pretty good one. If I've understand correct? Right now there are two ways of giving feedback, the ordinary reviewing system and the comments. So what you mean is to implant some options when to review a song? That makes it kind of three ways of giving feedback. In that case we could implant a fourth one (quick rating, which we discussed before.) I know at least one person who would like that... Xerxes. :D

OK... too complicated.

Ace, remember I am really happy with things the way they are, just trying to maybe help find a solution for the ones here that demand better reviews (with my method people would be forced to give complex reviews or not review at all).

Mark, I am going to try my best to do my part and be a better reviewer. I am planning to go back and edit ever review (no kidding) I have ever written and maybe adjust some scores before the year is over. Maybe I have learned some things these past few months (maybe not).

:D
