I'm a rather new composer, and I thought maybe some of you seasoned veterans could take a listen at one of my first pieces and tell me what you think.
I'd appreciate as much honest criticism as possible, as well as advice on improvement.

I'll take a shot at it. Overall production quality is good though it seems a little light.
Musically the song is pretty simple and straightforward, which isn't a bad thing and if you're new that's to be expected.
However I think the "fix" I would recommend is in both the arrangement and the percussion. A more complicated, layered and dynamic percussion track would be a great balance to the simplistic style of the music. With the regards to the arrangment, the track never builds up to any level of intensity but instead introduces a few different variations of the melodies without a lot of progression.
Low end (baseline) and some percussion layers that build up intensity and progression, that's what it needs IMO. |

I'm taking composing very seriously, so I welcome all criticism.
I agree with what you've said here. I'm not very good with baselines. I'm not sure what to do other than hammer on the tonic. But that gets kind of dull.
I think the song needs a part B, but that's something I'm bad at as well. I can never get a seperate part to work with the entire arrangement. Inestead it just sounds like i'm trying to jam two songs together.

okay, its just that sometimes musicians have one style they like more than others
Personally I'm into Electronic music, but mainly trance which I produce.
