I just wanted to express my views on tracks here at CTG that are in steaming audio.
I hate em!!!
Streaming audio means that I will have to suffer slow internet browsing for the next 30 minutes to an hour while your song attempt to play.. I have to make sure it's paused so I dont hear 1 second fragments of it every 20 seconds... and when I close the player I cant hear the track again! Why would I want to endure this just to listen to your song???? I probably don't... and there have to be others that agree with me.. people you are shutting off from listening/reviewing your track!
So this is why I queue files up and download them later... when I am sleeping, cooking, or at work. When I see a track is stored on one of these sites (mp3.com, soundclick) I know I am going to have to go through the trouble of browing through banner filled pages looking for a simple download button. And even worse sometimes I cant seem to find one that works.. and I get text messages in foreign languages I cant understand.
I dont know much about streaming audio... but I dont see why artists that choose this format cant find time to upload a nice mp3 for the narrowband community. Screw lo-fi streaming... I can listen to AM radio if I wanted that! It seems most of these sites offer an upload option... so why not use it? And use the alternative URL to link DIRECTLY to the file!!!
ok.. just a thought but Im sure I am missing some point or information so clue me in please! |

I agree.
Notice that e.g. Captain Error gets little feedback about his songs. I'm sure that's because he places links for streaming his audio rather than download link. (can somebody tell me wath the heck is this thing on 's head?)

obScene you're right!
Download is the only alternative if there are both alternatives avaiable! Even I, with DSL, think streaming are irritating.
Subteck, many of us must zip the songs (me, for instance), or else we cant upload them to modulez!
Don't be such a lazy guy! |

Like AKE said. Just the same... I think everybody surely has zip software nowadays... its even built into WindowsME and XP. But I agree it does seem pointless when you only get 2% compression sometimes.... it costs more time to unpack than it would to download the other 2%.

I'm not lazy for purpose, thats just what I am . Maybe you should get new uploading place, which has no zip requirement.
