so MPT has VSTi support now?
when was that added to that? recently?
is the wrapper any good? is the MPT export how flawless?
seems like soon you are able to compose pro songs with MPT.. atleast in theory..
and that analysis comment was pretty stupid. what's it off from you if people use other program than yourself? i'm sure there are a lot of people who compose much better music in all areas with mpt than you with all the equipment you could imagine... it's not the program that counts. the program you know through how to use is the right program for you.

As far as I know, MPT supports only VST1.0 standard, some synths work, yeah, but obviously you can't edit events wich makes VST filters quite useless. Anyway, solve to the problem is dividing your song to several mods ---> you get more slots. Editing is bit of a pain but prizes you in the result. Yet I think pre-editing samples is better solution when comes up to compression and equalizing, hence these plugs will bereave almost all slots.
Am I allowed for a little spam? Here is something we've made with Electra, by MPT......

kind of.

I'd say about 2-3 years ago.

Well, the exports sounds like they do in the tracker so I'd say it's completely flawless. But I guess that's not what you asked.

2-3 years ago? so the mpt DOES NOT have vsti support then
or can you load forexample NI Battery there?
or Pro 53?
and if you can't tweak the softsynth knobs, then they are pretty useless...
i believe these other new generation trackers work better..

It has very basic VSTi support. I didn't really bother to try it out too much, but I know of other people using the feature.

With VSTi's, undoubtedly yes. You can make midi macros to tweak some plugins, but it's not very practical. |

I think that as people become more and more used to the idea MPT will become a post-processing device for use prior to finalized mastering.
The ability to tweak volume levels on individual samples so carefully virtually eliminates the need for full-track compression and allows for a more natural sound.
So yes, it's fair to say that professional sounds can come from MPT. The problem with the thing wasn't ever really the program itself - it's that people used such crappy samples.
I think eventually people will realize that MPT makes a great little engine for mapping out the music that you've made in other programs. It's not a standalone program by any stretch, but it's pretty formidable since the layout is easy to understand (for some, if not most.) I think soon people will start building synths in other applications, sampling out the melodies, importing into MPT to use the VSTs available, and then exporting to cool edit or some such for the final mixdown. Well, unless you just want to do everything in reason or cubase and skip that step - but personally, I find the interface for MPT more intuitive and I think having all the built in effects available for each instrument all the time makes my life easier.
Oh, and: http://www.ctgmusic.com/ctg/song.php?id=2048 was made in MPT with only about 8 VSTs:
1, 2, & 3) Vocal compression, reverb, filter.
4 & 5) Synth delay and reverb
6) Guitar compression
7) Kick EQ
8) Snare EQ
Honestly, with a well-thought out scheme there probably isn't too much need for more than 20 VSTs, especially with chaining.
Just my two (or way more) cents. |
