Why not link CTG to Facebook like SoundCloud. Making notifications for new releases and daily compo's more visible. This may have been suggested before, I did not go through all of the posts. I just recently set up an account on facebook and SoundCloud and found the links announcing song drops very convienient. :D

Yeah it's always nice to sync your accounts with other sites.

A great idea, but we'd need someone with the time to do it. I did the last batch of AoTM's and it's somewhat time consuming, which is something I personally dont have the luxury of these days. However, I found it extremely rewarding.

You know... I just made the connection:

as the rave scene/dance scene diminished as crowd dynamics have become more about being at the event rather than enjoying it... (in short everything is commercialized now.. id&t, insomniac, etc.. etc..)

I think as this happened CTG naturally followed, since CTG is very much imho 'music for the RIGHT reasons' .. not for an image.. not for money etc..

i think as the dance scene kicks in again.. and people stop going to events to take pictures CTG will be lively again.

Hell.. I could forsee CTG being the kick start to a new wave of club scene.

CTG Raves, CTG Demo parties, CTG EVerything (lol).

CTG = Come Together Generation !!

So in conclusion,
Ideas to bring CTG back?..
We have to look at it from the opposite Point of View:
CTG to bring back Ideas!

yes it sounds redundant and a self indulgent fantasy on my part..
but just think of what started the electronic music scene and the rave scenes to begin with?

music geeks!

and music geeks attended.. and enjoyed for the right reasons (music)

then people caught on and also enjoyed for good reasons..

(skip ahead a couple years now)
then people realized how to profit off this (in many ways, not just monetary.. sex, power etc..)

and now all the 'music geeks' are doing other things...
burnt out, and living a family professional life.

Music communities like CTG are SEEMINGLY dead..
but energy is slowly brewing...

gaining hidden momentum for a new generation of musical exploration and community..

..yes possibly.

What I've noticed about the internet in general is that people like three things:

1) Easy access information, be it music, contacts or other info
2) Ratings, Reddit has it, Facebook has it, everybody has it. Upvotes, likes, tokens of love, we need a system like this.
3) Comment sections where you just poke and write and submit with no worries.

I would recommend we tuck pretty much everything artist wise into the background, make one small menu with a huge tree with most of the old options. Then, we simplify it into a simple interface where you immediately have new artists, new songs and up/down/rates/likes to choose. You click a small icon and you comment on the song/artist and such. Changes in likes and such means that the song/artist/whatever moves up in the chain while the opposite does the other.

On the side, you leave this old forum intact so that those that want deeper discussion can get that too.

That way, the people that just want a quick song and an option to vote can get that, the ones that like to discuss get that and us old farts have the forum for all our dirty needs.

Ideally, a purchasing system tied to paypal would also be stellar as then it would be directly facing up against Bandcamp too. But, I feel that would be taking it a bit overboard considering the GIGANTIC task it would be to write the suggestion I put forth just now.

But, that's my take on what needs to be done to get new people in here.

Edit: Also, it took me 20 times now to get the re-captcha now. Had it been one of those "fives strikes and you're out" captchas, I would have had no choice but to stop posting entirely as I have huge issues with these signs.

You know guys, everything's cool and such but imho CTG needs an upload feature..
Then we could even make "a thing" like Soundcloud external player (oh I wish) that can be plugged in anywhere..
