Software doesn't improve sound quality - you do, regardless of what you use! It's what comes after years of experience I'm afraid. My question is really what part of sound quality are you trying to improve? What are you monitoring on? Post a link to your track and listen to what feedback you get from someone you know has been doing it for longer, i.e. post a link what you're trying to improve and I can surely give you more advice...
Put an end to the loudness war. Don't limit or compress your mixdown until mastering; leave the master channel alone. |

Actually, every software package has a different sound quality.
I recently found out that OpenMPT doesn't have the best soundquality possible, even when using VSTi's only. But most popular software does, like Renoise, Cubase, EnergyXT, Fruitty Loops, etc...
You can ask me hundreds "why don't you" questions, answer will be, because it works that way too. - xTr1m |

Make sure to post a link to some of your newer work here. I would be interested in pointing out a few things.
I agree with the previous poster though that there is no 'magic button', it really takes time and effort to get the sound you are looking for. I'm still not happy with the songs I make, and I've been producing for 11 years now. Keep that in mind.

LPChip, that's not the kind of sound quality I was referring to. Software can use superior resampling (with appropriate anti-aliasing), bit depth and sample rates, but that's not necessarily going to help you produce better-quality music.
Sky Eye, just the fact that you state your master limiter makes me question a lot of things. Forget limiting and focus on making good music and mixdowns without it. Then, when you've done all you can, maybe think about mastering, and ideally letting someone other than yourself do it.
As for your sample, seriously remove the master limiter/whatever you're doing. Music has a thing called dynamics and anything without it closely resembles noise. Do yourself and others a favour and start mixing quieter (i.e. turn the master volume down)...
