Thanx atlantis!! You almost pushed me to finish this, lets see if its going to happend You're right about digital sound and crappy mixing. I made few sounds from the scratch and found 6th incarnation of Reason way more difficult than eariler versions. In the end I'm not very skilled nor advanced with it
this goes to a sidepaths, but I've worked with Cubase now, for a rockband who wants me to do it. Speaking terms of inspiration and creativity, Cubase is propably worst possible enviroment to me. Its hard to describe how crap it is to work for. Going out from the presets is very difficult. So I know Reason is a toy for a professional stage, but I cant imagine working with uninspiring tools like Cubase or Sonar, Ableton etc. |

Fair enough, but maybe that's where oversampling will come in, though it all depends on how they've programmed their synths. Try rendering at 96 kHz and see what happens. I'm sure the difference wouldn't be that great anyway (though I remember a distinctive low-cut in Reason), but it's worth a try. Try and find a nice EQ that boosts at a selective upper mid frequency, depending on each instrument. I think the more you boost the better the outcome here...
Put an end to the loudness war. Don't limit or compress your mixdown until mastering; leave the master channel alone.

She was supposed to record yesterday, but went down with a fever. It'll be 10-20 days before recording starts, then I need to fit it in the track as well. I'll holler on you when I got more updates.

All good, I'm trialling out some new plug-ins anyway and have found some great ones already, so the sound is only going to get better...

Afterlife: Cool song! I like it. In the beginning you are expecting lyrics and a singer though. Later on, you kinda know its not going to happen, but it I think the song would greatly benefit from it. In addition, the songs start to repeat itself halfway through. This would not be a problem, but the hook is not really able to stay interesting for that long.
Overall a very good song though, I'm only nit-picking. Very nice stuff.
Nowwhere near:
Really good song. I'm really impressed I have to say. If you want to have more listeners you really need some singer on these tracks. Never the less, this is really amazing stuff. I'd recommend others to have a listen. Back in the day this would have een a massive download-cannon here on CTG.
Some minor things.
2:25ish --> I think the sax? at that time is not really nice.
3:10 that is one really bad crash sample. Better change it to another one.
Anyway, long story short: pretty nice stuff there.
In the open (2835 hits) My ambient EP. |
