I've voted other.
I don't ignore the lyrics, but I don't count them as the important part of a song either. This is mostly because I listen to lots of instrumental tracks as well.
I hear the lyrics when they're present but for me its another instrument. I do know that subconsciously I listen to the lyrics but as a listener I only do if a song really appeals to me.
For that reason, I usually can only sing a long a refrain.
You can ask me hundreds "why don't you" questions, answer will be, because it works that way too. - xTr1m |

I never listen to lyrics. As a long time fan of Trance music, vocals never really pertained to me. I've heard a lot more instrumental Trance than the stuff with vocals. Some of it is nice, but some of it's hit or miss. But overall, I definitely have a habit of ignoring the vocals because I'm in it for the music!
Come to think of it, if I really wanted vocals, I could turn on the radio and find a song to listen to. |

Lyrics are very important for me. Infact much of my enjoyment of artists such as Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Joni Mitchell etc comes from the lyrical part. I developed a habit of reading the lyrics while listening to the music and learned an enormous amount of songs by heart this way.

| I tend to pay attention more to the music than the lyrics. |
