I see you didn't get the message...
That kind of thread is just silly, I don't know why do people answer to this question here.. Just add your songs to music section like hundrets of artists do on CTG if you want to get feedback..
"Is my music good enough for a label"? Don't you think we cannot answer you that question? Why don't you try yourself and send your stuff somewhere .. The labels will give you the answer...
|
I think there are no silly questions. What would happen if we started to control what people are allowed to ask or say in the forums? Of course we have certain rules here, but there still is this thing called freedom of speech
Personally I think this (ctgmusic) is a place where one can receive feedback on their songs and I wouldn't exclude forums out from the means to receive that feedback.

So we all can post new topic on forum and ask for reviews instead of using music section?

Apart from the really nice comments by Valve I'd like to add that your sounds/synths that you use are really old-fashioned, and are likely to not be accepted by any label. You want to make sure that you stand out from the crowd when you send your song to a label, so make sure that the sounds that you produce for your melodies are not generic. Try to make original sounds. Your soundscape should be designed, so that it matches the feeling you want to create for your song.
Anyway, I think the songs that I've heard from you are on the right track, you are certainly not writing bad music. You just need a little more to be accepted on a label.

There's nothing wrong with asking for simple opinions. He isn't asking for a review but rather a comment to say whether or not a majority of music labels would accept his music or not. Besides, it adds to the forum discussion here and there's nothing wrong with that.
Also thanx Valve for fixing the links lol. I didn't think to shorten them... just feeling lazy |

I just don't see the point of making such a topics here, it could be simply moved to offtopics, otherwise the main forum might be littered. I know there's not much people over there so we should be thankful each person who registers these days, but we cannot forget to keep the forums at a good level.
I know forums where one guy posts his topic in wrong place, so the others starts to do the same. If I were an admin I would simply move the topic somewhere else, but imho this is not the place..

The topic description does say nothing in particular other than "Music, scene and site news" so it's not breaking the forum rules, however I'd say your point is valid enough. |

Yes, i only posted in this topic area because i know hardly anyone check's the off-topic areas, cause a lot of that is just garbage.
yes the information i was looking for was would a label take me AND why or why not. i gave examples as well just so they had an idea on what to look at. they took it into their own hands and provided with me good detailed informative tips.
i know have improved and learnt some valuable information, and isn't that the idea of this website?
and i would have to say it did get a bit of forum activity going
Thanks

word.
Just keep sending your ep/lp (on CD through standalone mail), they will tell you if you meet the requirements.

Nah, dont do that. Send your stuff via email, they will listen. Dont expect a word from them if they didn't like it though.

Many told me to send ep's via standalone mail, this gives more chance that they will listen to your stuff instead of getting hundrets of mails from newbies and trying to find a needle in haystack (it means someone that is worth listening).
This is the only advice I can give, because I feel not authorized to give you the feedback like you expect. I can write you a review but definitely not here

I have two songs released on a label, and I can tell you that sending your demo's through email is completely fine. They will listen. They want to listen, because they need music to release. It's just that they have so much entries that they won't reply.
