Hello! As most of you may be aware, I am currently hosting an FTP server dedicated to this site. It's currently hosting CTG mixes and images, and some more stuff related to me.
Seeing as how the CTG mixes all have dead links, etc. I figured having a website dedicated to store this stuff would be most efficient. I am about ready to register a DNS for a website that I will be hosting that will be dedicated to CTG mixes, images, and maybe even as a content delivery network for other users who want to store their stuff on there!
I just need some naming ideas. It has to be .info or .us! Those are the cheapest ones that this hosting service (ActiveServers) is offering for now! It would be better if someone else would be willing to pay for a .com but I'm not there yet. If you think this is a good idea, list some names below!
A few I have in mind are:
ctgcdn.info
ctgportal.info
ctgmusic.info
.... The rest is up to you!

I can ask yannick if he can point a subdomain to your server so you can have ???.ctgmusic.com linked to your site. that way its entirely free and looks part of this website too.

Good thinking! I'd rather do that if it's free. Can you tell him to do direct it to 98.247.89.1?
We still have to think of a name. I'm thinking of "cdn.ctgmusic.com". |

Yeah, go ahead and make it cdn.ctgmusic.com. I just want to get the mixes with dead links up. I don't really have any other purpose for this server right now. I am also allowing users to upload their own music, but I need to write a form that can allow people to upload anonymously.
Should I contact Yannick, or does he need permission from you? |

cdn.ctgmusic.com will now redirect to your server, with big thanks to Yannick for setting it up so quickly. 
As for your question, it depends on what your server/connection can handle really. If you'll host for members too, somewhere in the future people will use it more and more. The more people use it, the more diskspace and bandwidth it'll take you. I leave it up to you as you probably know better what your server/connection can handle.
If you really don't know, please tell me what your connection speed is. Both up and down speed.

I'm also a little worried about that. I have a 60 GB drive which should be enough unless we were to get a large amount of members again. My up speed is 3 Mbit/s. It's slow for others to download from, but I'm just coming up with ideas to allow members to upload files like we were discussing in a previous thread.
Maybe I'll just leave it for mixes for now. I need to code a form to allow members to upload and that might take some time anyway.

Yeah, those are not the ideal circumstances for hosting files. I'd stick with mixes for now.
When you host other files, and they get downloaded frequently enough, it'll use up your bandwidth rather quick, so atleast 10mbit up would be my recommendation, or better, a (virtual) server located in a datacenter.
