Reason: Its NOT free. after it tells you that it can restore your files, you must buy the program to actually perform the operation!

To recover lost, inaccessible and permanently deleted files from Windows partitions, there are several free tools available but they don’t provide guarantee to success in every case. Kernel for Windows is a robust third party software that efficiently retrieves lost, deleted, damaged and inaccessible data from Windows partitions having FAT & NTFS file systems.

Kernel for Mac is the effective commercial software that successfully recovers data from deleted, damaged, formatted or corrupted hard disk partitions having HFS and HFS+ partitions. It can also recover data from initialized Mac hard disks and completely recovers files and folders, documents, images, pictures, music files, video files and other important items from the disk.

This is why it's always wise to create backups regularly in event that the hard drive crashes. Also, restore points are useful as well if you're willing to restore the OS back to a previous state.

I wouldn't trust 3rd party utils like OP did as they may be malicious. However, I do know of one by Piriform called Recuva which can be useful for retrieving deleted files.

This post seems like a scam. I would not trust this software one bit, and because I want to protect our members, I am going to remove the name of the program recommended.

EDIT: Did a bit of research, its a scam. you get a free tool, but then you must buy it. So its shareware.
You can ask me hundreds "why don't you" questions, answer will be, because it works that way too. - xTr1m

Hi
You can also use Remo Recover (Mac) - Basic Edition software to recover deleted or formatted data from the Mac computer. It has strong inbuilt scanning algorithm, with the help this it scans entire hard drive deeply and restores all deleted data. You can download trial version of this software in order to estimate data recovery.
