Yep. Dubstep is a subgenre evolved from my opinion too -but I wouldn't refer to it as a genre or subgenre at all....it's more like a drumloop used in other genres /subgenres like chillout ,hip hop ,and drum'n'bass...I actually like such atmospheric easy tracks combined with Dubstep (chillstep...).
The whole 'wobble' thing when Skrillex use it or other artists using it in an unhearable way is just terrible...I can't listen to it for 1 minute without getting a headache not mentioning that there's actually no melody around such tracks so the whole thing is nothing but sound quality rather then the music itself...
South Park made a good point laughing on such music on Season 15 episdoe 7 (you're getting old) saying it's hardly even music--it's just crap (Thomas Middleditch was pretty funny hehe)
