I dont think there is anything wrong with ejay. It is very good program for those who never did some music production so that they can find the real joy in this buiseness and after a while they surely must feel the urge to actualy create something on their own. So i think ejay is good thing to start with but only for some 2weeks until you get bored |

Urks... I think I used it for over a year But as I said, after a while I used less and less samples.

I remember e-jay. Oh, so long ago...
I used to start tracking my own melodies and put them in there, until I finally got used to Impulse Tracker. I also had fun cutting up the pre-made samples and doing stupid shit with it.
Anywho, I see it as "cheating", if the person wants to be taken truly seriously. For a simple toy to learn with though, I think it's okay.

I thinnk it doesn't matter which programm you use as long as you can make the result sound like something, that is NOT done with that program. I personally hate e-jay, because it needs too much resources, I miss tons of options and the compatibility is crap. Yet, I worked with much worse software in the past and somehow managed to get what I wanted. So this is what you should do, try to get the sound you want and if it works with e-jay, that's fine.

| shshsh... Ejay is a toy. A program-toy. I remember when I made a couple of tracks for our threather-play (orchestral tracks, made with buzz), I donīt ever remember being so insulted when they asked me: "hey dude, you made this with ejay?". So my point is; if somebody wantīs to use ejay - go ahead. Just donīt think or say that you are a musician. Placing mega-samples over and over, isnīt composing (unless youīve made those samples by yourself, but I donīt think that anybody with a skill like that would use Ejay - there are far more better sequencers arround). And furthermore, Ejay doesnīt have eq:s, compressors or other stuff like that ..... canīt recommend it for learning either since it wonīt help you to play with the real programs.... |

If you use a calculator to do simple math you are no math genius and you shouldn't be called a math genius either. But you have to learn to calculate in some way. In my opinion this site stands for musicians and that means for me you made the whole thing. But just becuase I don't like E-Jay it doesn't say that someone can't learn to make music from it, or at least some fundamental stuff just like some said before. |

| Ejay is a good learner...it learns you the good basics of producing. Though only arrangement. You don't learn any of drumsampling and melodies. It's not cheating, but it isn't really producing. I would prefer to call it excercising, because you don't make your own work. |

I voted for 'Yeah its fine to use' but only as long as you are in the very beginning. E jay software doesnt really belong in the music production software section. It is more of something like a toy, or a puzzle. You dont learn anything substantial out of it regarding music production and no real talent is necessary to put prefabricated loops together. Anyone can produce a semi decent track in ejay even if they dont have any musical talent. So in conclusion its fine to use ejay in the beginning, but after a short period of time its advised to move on if you are serious about music production! That is actually what happened to me |
