This question came to my mind probaly becouse i feel a bit bothered by it. 
Simply i wonder if you think that it is needed for people to publish their songs in form of spam in forums aswell. I mean there are pages like "new songs list", "reviewed songs", "commented songs", "promo songs", latest songs, all the charts and more. Is this not enought yet, should songs be posted in forum aswell?
Generaly what bothers me here is that if songs are posted in forum then it should be same for all the songs. I dont like to see that some music is extra promoted and some arent, somehow the system fails in such cases.
I dont have no problem when people promote their self on otherpages, actualy that is very good for us, but doing promotion here, where all the people can check your song anyway, i simply dont see it neccesarly.
But what do you think?  |

I think the major sin of CTG in this matter is that a regular check-out-my-new-track-and-give-me-feedback always draws replies from members. These song-spams will keep appearing if they keep gathering attention.
I personally have never checked a song that was spammed in a forum, I also try to avoid getting involved in those topics. But it's a Spam forum after all, so if ppl want to post that...we can simply make that ineffective by just ignoring those.  You're not thinknig on moderating Spam forums, are you Ace?

I personally dislike spam alot. I don't see the use of it, as I believe that if the song is good, and you have been active around ctg/giving feedback to other people's productions, it will get selfpromoted and attention will be granted. Therefore, I vote for "not needed" and I'd like to see the opinions of others who are for the spam. In my opinion, spam to me is like little children who's thoughts are "if I scream loud enough, I'll get their attention".

i have seen few really good songs get no attention at all, because some unexperienced reviewer/musiclistener has given then grade like 7.5 and then it has sank into the mass. there are actaully lot of people who don't use 1-7 and 8-10 at all.. but give everytrack 7-8 and that creates a mass, that nobody wants to check out.

I generally dislike spam, but there are special occasions, when it's good to spam. Like when I released my album etc. I generally not spam in forum, besides the I'm bored topic  .

yes, I understand what you mean, but that comes down to subjectiveness. You might think that song is great, others might not. I allways check out 7 and above, so I don't follow you there.

Well the thing is the forum is the most active area at CTG, so if you want to get your music noticed, the forums is the place to be. Its easy to miss new songs unless you make an effort to check the new songs page every day. The promo songs box is obsolete as well, as I doubt many viewers even visit the front page. ( Dont many of us have certain areas bookmarked? ) I never see the front page.
I suggested the idea once to Ace:
When an artist has a promo song, maybe it could show up underneath his avatar on the left side... kind of like my signature. Also to make this fair, pictures in a signature ( like mine ) should not be allowed.
This way any artist can have his song spammed in the forum by simply earning it with reviews. Then the spam forum could be destroyed, but the opportunity of spam would not.

| I don't see much harm in the spam and I think it could be useful for those who don't put every single song they create there. The little extra attention for a special song doesn't hurt anyone and it certainly could help the artist. |

Yes forum is most visited part of ctg. But main page is right on second place so that promo songs are not obsolete.
The idea about promo songs sound interesting indeed. And i think it can be realized to some point. For instance there is no way to remove pictures from existing signutures since they are part of message and not some sepeare content. So this means from now on signitures would have to be seperated, meaing if you would change your signiture it would change in all the replies which you have wrote so far.
But i think this would be again used for spam since it would open an option to attach your spam to 100s of your posts in no time.
But what bothers me a bit more is one simple fact. Site is seperated into 6 sections. Its section has own meaning and what i dont want to see is mixing those sections together too much. Like generaly people usualy do not go in forum to seek for music, they do that in music or in charts area. So i would prefer to have extra promotion on those two pages which are more connected with songs then forum.
Or maybe each day a topic in spam forum could be created where all the promo songs would be listed |

It doesn't matter what you do with spam songs, since I simply don't check the song that are bering spammed. However, spam section shouldn't be deleted. When you have a new site for instance, you can gather feedback in the spam section. And that shouldn't disables since there is no "new sites" or "site comments" or something like that
