Roncli i read ur review, that s what s important for me. THe number could have been a 5/6/7/8 but i dont care. I wont be more motived for my rating coz i know s something subjective and it s only a number. But the review s where u express ur opionion about the tune and that s what i find more interesting. I was pleased to read to u really like the last part of "Mix of emotions" and I was not very surprised about Slammy comment: "til the 4th minute melodies r boring..." (something like that).
"Mix of emotions" was the 1st track i ve done in my life with the computer (before i made a couple of tunes but i didnt finish them coz i was experimenting and learning how to use FL).
I never study about sound engineer (people must have noticed about that) and i never study music theory (just a couple of guitar lessons).
"Waiting" was the second tune i done. "Arab temptation" was the third one. "Heart attack" was the next. "Xmas" was the 5th and "Vodka tonic" was the last.
As i told before my cpu s rubbish, soundcard rubbish as well (i dont know even what soundcard is coz it came when i bought it....) so i do what i can.
I sent my tunes to all psytrance labels I could (i sent a sample of "Arab temptation" and "Vodka tonic" in 90kbps quality) and I had really good coments. A couple of them told me that "Arab temptation" s good (sometimes really good) but it sounds like old school psytrance and no one s gonna b interested in it. Other labels like Ajuca Productions (based in Brighton,UK) said that they found interesting my tunes so there might be something to do (the guy who answered my emails listen to all the tunes i made). About "Vodka tonic" most of the labels told me it sounds interesting (specially Midijum Records Germany who asked me to send them all the tunes i ve done) but they dont have space for another artists or that they r not interested right now. I also send these samples to party promotors and i ve got positive answers from London,UK promotors. Actually one of them asked me if I was interested in playing in their parties (live PA) but because i m not in London and i dont have a LIVE PA, i had to refuse it.
Of course some labels didnt even asnwer but who cares ....
So i ll say the same: reviews are the only thing important and if i gave 1/2/3 it was coz i was really disappointed with a particular tune. I didnt mean to offend anyone. Just wrote my opinion. And by the way if the 8.5 and 7 u gave me wasnt 100% objective, I would ask u to change that number and write the number u think i deserve.
I wont review the people who ask me not to review. fair enough. The site has owners so i m gonna respect them.
I dont know too much about music industry but i guess when u go to a record label or an artist manager and they listen to ur songs u could be more thatn disapointed after u listen to their oppinion.
Anyway maybe tunes that i rated 4/5 could b really nice tracks for other people. The same for my tunes... if someone believes they r not good, fair enough. And remember that i alway try to give my oppinion.
Last thing i ll say s that the 1st days i was surprise coz tunes that were rated 8 wasnt good enough for me but in the last days i download really nice tracks.

(I dont know how the thing about reviews works... i m not looking for a banner or anything else... true that some reviews r shorter than average, but not all of them so lets not generalize... about the grammar sometimes i dont know what happens.... besides my mistakes, something else happens when i press the "Submit" button coz a couple of words disappear from my review)

Fair enough. If you feel that way about reviews, though, then you could just write a comment, but I feel there's more to it than that.
I have noticed that there is a certain level of quality that is expected in a review here on CTG, because there are a number of features on this site that are tied to the number of reviews that you do. You can't upload songs back to back unless you write 3 reviews... your songs get promoted if you hit 7... if you're in the Top 3 for the past 7 days, you get a banner on the front page... and if you write more reviews than anyone else has in the past 7 days, you get the Reviewer of the Week title.
This puts the emphasis on quantity, which is always bad. CTG's staff, therefore, has to implement a certain level of quality in their reviewers' reviews. This level of quality must not only cover the comments within the review, but it must cover the rating as well.
Let's face the facts... a lot of your reviews:
- Are shorter than the average length review on CTG
- Contains horrible grammar and excessive shorthand
- Contains points that are completely irrelevant to the song itself
- Are rated anywhere from 1 to 5 points below the song's average, or worse!
The community has noticed this, and it's a big deal because, whether or not you intend to do this, you are using your below average quality reviews to promote yourself and your music. This is unfair to, say, someone like PPH who puts time and effort into each and every one of his reviews. If he only had to put the amount of quality into his reviews that you are averaging, he could probably do 3 to 4 times as many.
So the general plea of the community is either:
- Increse the quality of your reviews and put a realistic rating on them, or;
- Don't review, if you want to comment on a song, use the comments.

It's plenty objective. Motorcycle Chase, 9.0 by me, is better (IMHO) than Mix of Emotions... Ice Stations, 8.0 by me, is not.
If you want to know what the real low end of the scale sounds like, here's a sample for you.
This is (IMHO) a 2.0.
This is a 3.5.
This is a 4.0.

i agree on everything ronald say, and continue a bit saying that you have to know what is worse in ctg before you can rate other songs as 1/10. all songs rated the same number by the same person should be about the same level. you can't rate a song 1/10 and then realize that there is even worse songs, and you rate those 1/10 too.
i myself haven't given a single 1/10 yet, but yet one 1.5/10

Well, i really think that Psyxel reviews are really wrong, and too much underrated, and the badest thing is a coment on a song of mine that say (in italian) that my song is a shit! First of all it is write in italian so the other people can't understand and anyway, how you can write it in italian? And in this tipical italian-offensive words? But, where are you from?
And anyway, the funny things is that under the italian offensive comment he as write "good job mate" so the other people that not understand italian, can only read "good job mate" and think that it's a normal comment in a good way... This is quite lame, right?
Anyway, please Psyxel, don't review another song of mine.

omg, are you serious? Psyxel what are you trying to do? Like we were talking earlier... being an active member and reviewer is about being a part of a community, its about helping others.... how the hell do you think this behavior helps anyone?
You are not welcome to review any more of my songs as well, and I wish you would quit reviewing ANY songs as well. Your harsh ratings and destructive criticism do nothing but anger people. You can't carry seem to answer a single question without talking nonsense and jibberish that can even be read. What is it you came to CTG for? To learn as an artist, or to broadcast your personal and narrow opinions of music to as many people as possible.
We are not listening.
