i wouldn't get too excited on bt_me's reviews. he only uses numbers 7, 7.5 and 8
also his reviews are so damn similar that if you would randomly shuffle those nobody wouldn't even notice something is wrong.

My reviews are a bit like your music then A98 ,randomly shuffle those nobody wouldn't even notice something is different.
behold the dream that lights up your soul, held in your imagination at lifes very goal, the sadness of a melody that can melt your heartbeat in to to sit and to think what is this life to you .... |

I know that most of u listen melodic trance anyway it would b nice if someone can check my tunes.
Of course I ll b more than glad if u r as critic as i try to be. I dont care about the number coz we all have different taste and it s impossible to be 100% objective in a review. If we wanna talk only about production 1st of all we ve to say that we all r listening to mp3(so sound quality much worst that .wav/.aiff); 2nd that some peopla might have small speakers, other hi-fi systems.
I think that the purpose of trance/house/tech/breakbeat/dnb s to make people dance. So that s the 1st thing to review in a song. Can a tune make lose people s mind? r they gonna dance?
At least this s what i think and this s how i start writing a review.
I listen to a couple of hard trance tunes n in some of them there wasnt even a snareroll. That s not being original, that s missing one intrument to make people dance.
Anyway the production could b outstanding but the most important thing s the song. If a song doesnt have nice sounds, not even the best mix s gonna save the track.
I guess that after so many years with sequencers, everyone knows how to build a 16bar groove. my opinion s that we ve to find new sounds (imagine some vst plugins come with 300 presets so we ve lot to do). Actually we ve to avoid presets and we ve to study about music production but most important how to create new sounds.
Otherwise no one s gonna make a difference. Remember that labels r looking for innovative artists unless u r already playing (i m talkin about a Live PA n not just mixing) in clubs and u ve success.
Hope this explain why i rate songs like a rate them.
Coz i m new i dont know who really reads reviews so maybe it s not a long review. If u d like to know what i think of every second of one of ur tunes just let me know and i ll try to do that
Here s where u can find my tunes www.mp3.com.au/psyxel (6 tunes... 1 psychedelic (Vodka tonic), one goatrance (Arab temptation), one intrumental (Xmas), one morning old school psytrance (Waiting) and two mix of everything (Mix of emotions, Heart attack)

No no no, dear God no. As an American ( and even worse a Kentuckian ) I would be shot if I were caught dancing to trance. Trance is not about dance ( IMO )... I dont want anyone to attempt to dance to my music.... my music is for listening. If you were trying to dance to A Child's Mind, well then no wonder you rated it a 4

How can a snare roll make anyone dance? Snare roll is the worst idea ever, it may have been creative the first time, but again and again.. why would you want to do something so cliche? You will NEVER hear me do a snare roll... if I do, SHOOT ME.

You assume everyone has been doing this for a long time?
Remember that labels r looking for innovative artists unless u r already playing (i m talkin about a Live PA n not just mixing) in clubs and u ve success.

You assume too much about what each individual artist is working for. We dont all want to be DJ's mixing tracks or whatever it is they do in clubs, Ive never been in one.
I think your OK, but I cried myself to sleep last night after getting your review ( not seriously ). Just remember you can be critical without being harsh.

I dont know what s going on in America, less in Kentucky (dont wanna b rude but even the globalization s still there n ll grow up there r some places that r a lil bit unknown...)
If u make music as a hobby cool and have fun. If u r serious about makin electronic music (and i m talkin about the styles i mention b4: dnb, trance, house, psy, goa, prog, etc etc), what u r doing s for the dancefloor. No one s gonna make a tune so people can listen to it in mtv or buy in a tower records store. This music & specially trance s for the dancefloor. No doubt about it.
Now, if u wanna make trance music for homelistening, fair enough, but dont tell me that this music s for homelistening coz mate, u r wrong.
This music was born in clubs & s gonna b always like this. Of course more styles ll appear, of course people listen at home, on the radio. But this s logic... if u have a beat in all the song s coz the person who creates this song wants u to dance. I can argue about rates, reviews and musical taste but this s a fact: trance music s for the dancefloor and there s where u realize if u ve made a good track.
And a piece of advice: if u wanna progress (meaning=make better tunes), yeah, study but go to a club and watch what makes people dance. Then u ll realize what i m talkin about. it s almost impossible to talk to a person who makes trance music but never been to a club. (dont wanna b harsh). This might b the reason why u dont use snare/kick rolls. Coz u dont understand what s their purpose.

I pity the foo who cannot control their dance when they hear a snare roll! Who are these people? Why do I care if they dance? Who are these mindless droves of people I am supposed to be pleasing?

I dont get it.
Who cares if Ive been to a club. Music is music. Everybody stop dancing. I think dancing is gay. How can you weigh this into making music? Am I producing entertainment for drunk college students or am I making art for, well, drunk college students.
Psyxel, I think you should just stop reviewing songs. We know you feel about all our music... it sucks. You cant dance to it. Now stop. I promise personally to review all your tracks , from now until the rest of time.... if you will just stop reviewing. You have no incentive to review anymore... I will review you anyway. If you want banner space I will win reviewer of the week and make you a banner. Just for the love of God stop reviewing.
