Must bring back some old time feelings. Why is it that I can't feel excited?
Nobody should feel offended, but I read all the excited messages above, read Roncli's blog, etc and all I think is : "Man, I'm creaming my underwear here. Another service where you can create a profile, push your songs online, then bitch on eachother's tracks and it is in beta! This is going to be amazing!".. ya that's sarcasm.
What's the buzz about this? I don't see the catch. During a year of being active around various places, I've found tons of services that are good. TiS is not going to offer something new. It has a few things, but it doesn't have it all, just like other services.
I suppose it is "TiS", the label of the service / community that you all care about? Or is it the right mix of features you're looking for? Oh well, I will probably hang around there with you guys too in future, but appears I'm not very interrested atm

For me, I'm getting a major buzz, awesome feeling, about all the great, old friends that seemed to disappear when TiS did. Already some of those friends have returned with the site, and that for me, is awesome!.
TiS also holds a lot of fond memories for me, and I'm the type of person that clings onto good memories and stuff. TiS was the first place I ever distributed my music on. TiS was my first stop on the intarweb when I got hooked up in 1998. The community at TiS taught me so much, and I made the majority of my online music friends there/because of it's existance.... So naturally, I'm buzzed it's back!.
I've realised I can co-exist happily at TiS, and CTG AND modarchive.. So my commitments here will not be thrown to the wind. which is a bonus!. Yep, I'm beta testing at TiS, I doubt my participation will reach the heights it did when I lived and breathed it - but I'm giving Saurin as much support as I can offer, it's the least I can do, for the support he gave me, and many others in the past .

I'll second everything Slammy said and add this: I believe a lot of TiS's success was because it was very friendly to casual artists. I may not have searched very hard, but every other Scene site I've seen has been... well, it's hard to define. TiS had a very wide appeal because it hit some kind of magic formula, and from what I've seen from the new TiS so far, I think it's going to hit the same sweet spot again. All that's missing is more people. Right now it just feels like an old men's club.

Is one able to upload songs at TiS, without linking?

Of course! That's one of the basic concepts of the site. |

But it was also the reason why the site went down. I mean, Saurin just wasn't able to pay those servers.
(atleast, he said so in the interview with Novus)

Somewhat verifies what I was thinking then.
It is funny, as I did have a TiS account back in the day. Did some chiptunes and some very wrong psy tunes there. Also reviewed a bit, got some back, but I guess I wasn't too involved with the community there to be really hooked.
On another note with the upload thing: maybe I'm currently living too much in the mp3 age, but do you think we'll see a big resurrection of the tracker format releases over at TiS? I doubt it, but maybe that's a catch not many services shine at. They are more often about mp3 only import, get it streamable and downloadable in lofi and hifi and that's it.
