I also find one personal rule very useful: Never use "i like" or "i dont like".
This way you can really be more objective and more constructive.

I don't agree, reviewing is about your own opinion, and saying this sucks/roxx with some explanation is good. That's where it's all about. You practictly say our reviews should be like "the trance rules are this and that,. and that's why everybody dislikes it."

Yes, but only if the "I like/I don't like" is an addition, not the main message of your review. Something to start with or to end and that's it. You might as well write poems on how much you love a song, but it won't be a review. :)

I think it doesn't matter if you write "I like this", if you also write WHY you like it ofcourse

That's what I'm saying. But when you say you don't like it, you don't need to be rude even if you REALLY don't like it... :)

I'm not sure if you get me right... It's not about not hurting somebody's feelings, it's about one's culture and behaviour. As a reviewer you write something more or less official. Even if it's just a review at CTG. Everybody should be treated politely, unless he's really looking for fights.. :)

Yes, reviewing isn't a intention t ohurt somebodies feelings. But if I write a review, I write what I think. And that's what I'm trying to say... if I'm rude in that procidure, people gotta accept that. I don't think there are rules for not hurting someone's feelings..

Offcourse, i belive there is no such person here who would left out his/her personal opinion about the song. No matther what, you either like or dont like the song but my point was that i try not to say that in review and also if you explain why you like/dislike something it is perfectly fine. Only thing which bothers me are comments without reasonable explanations, then you really cant call it a "review" since it is just personal comment about the song.

Oh and yes there is a little rule about hurting personal feelings and it goes like this:
"the review should not be offensive or obscene"

I have no problem with rude/unpolite language. Of course i prefer a nice review with good comments but hey, there r a couple of tunes that deserve some words like "awful", "sux".
I ve heard a couple of tunes that where a waste of time. My tunes are not excellent and not even close but i try not to hurt someone ears and waste others time. That s what i call respect.
Now if i download a terrible song why i ve to be polite??? It s not that i wanna hurt someone feelings but wanna give my oppinion. Of course the owner of that song has the right to remove my review but that s coward.
I ve no personal issues with anyone so it s not that I m being evil.
The only problem with rude words would be if there s no explanation for their use. It d be stupid to write "Awful intro, terrible bass/drum... doesnt worth it". If u wanna write that, u should write it in comments, coz it aint a review.
As a matter of fact I read reviews after I listen to the tune. So once again, rates & bad reviews doesnt mean anything to me. I read everything about the artist and what he wrote about the tune. After writing my review or comment, I read to other reviews (so i not influence by anyone oppinion).

Ouch, again I feel you misunderstood. :D I meant I don't say all that stuff about being polite because I don't want any feelings to be hurt, sometimes it is indeed necessary.

I'm saying don't be rude not because I'm so much afraid somebody will be upset, but it's the sort of unwritten code of manners. You have one at school (like you shouldn't yell at your teacher) politicians shouldn't call each other names on TV debates etc. And you just simply don't say "f*ck you" to your neighbours (I hope :D ) Some behaviour is not suitable for cultural people. Same with reviewing.
