None, i just ment that it would save some time if samples would allready be loaded into nn19s but it is just about 1 or 2 mins of work

Oh, i got your point now. I think it is better to have only a refill, since it is not sure you will use nn19 to play wav (you can also use redrum for instance, or you dont use all the samples, etc.) |

Yes we stick with refill.
So if i continue the idea about the compo dedicated pages here on ctg the idea is like this:
There can be a guy or more who can add Compos which will be then listed on special "Compos list page".
Each compo has some basic rules and info when does it start (CTG time). When the compo starts there is a link where people (CTG members only) can download refill or sample pack if the compo will be tracking one (we should support all types of them).
Then people have 1 hour (or whatso ever the deadline is) to use the special form where they can upload their song.
After the deadline is over the uploading is disabled, and the songs are ready to be rated. We need to decide who can rate either only those who participate or every CTG member.
After each song has 1 (or 2 or more) ratings the compo is over and winner can be announced and the compo can go to the archives so that people can check it out.
So what do you think about this.. some more ideas?

I guess the source file should be uploaded and not mp3, since this is the fair treatment. In case of the reason OHC, only those can listen the song who has the refill anyway.
How the tracking OHC is reviewed? Cause I see it was pretty quick judgement. |

I agree about a wav only compo, no synthesizers etc.... but also I think there is alot that could be missed this way. We shouldn't limit the fun, as each compo could have a new theme or challenge. For instance... a REX loop compo.
Also its important to remember that with Reason there are many ways to accomplish the same thing... some may use Redrum with loaded samples for percussion, some may use an NN-19... so each refill should not only contain WAV's, but a few various patches... so Redrum users wont have to build the percussion, and so that maybe a few multi sample instruments can be used.
Another very important thing... things that are in version 2.5 but not 2.0 should not be allowed.
So Ace are you going to take this over as a CTG project or should I be considering building a devoted site ?

Rules can be developed further more for each compo since the whole idea is to support tracking, reason and someother type of compo as long there will be interest.
And yes i would got with source files only since those are no problems to host since they will be like 2kb big. :yes.
But the whole project would be implemented into ctg and not some new site. Dont know where to put it yet, under music or community, and we can promote each compo with news and topic so that people can be aware of it.
It will be also fully connected with existing database so that only existing ctg members can participate in the compo (becouse of the user authentication).

This is the only problem I see. Yes authentication would help, but its not definately necessary. At the same time limiting the compo to CTG'ers would definately result in fewer entries. There probably aren't more than 10 active Reason users here, and most likely participation would be hit and miss. If we can go pro-active and spam the compo on other sites, especially places like Reasonstation, Reasonfreaks, etc... we could not only boost up participation in the compo but promote CTG

Hehe, why not? If you have 2.0 you can freely upgrade to 2.5 |

oh, I dont know much about past Reason versions... I just dont want to leave anyone out.
What would happen if entries were limited to Reason 1.0 machines.... what would we be taking away? and are source files between the two programs even compatible?

It takes up too 1 minute to register on CTG and it is totaly free so i dont see no problem at all. And yes i agree advertising on othersites is good so that we can also gain more artists for the site.
