Damn, you open up alot of topics First of all, there isn't such thing as "best program", everyone has different tastes thus differend choices of program. Someone can use Reason, while others stick to old trackers for instance.
Cubase itself is very nice after what I heared, only thing is you seriously need lots of VST(i)
I'd say try few programs and then pick your favourite

Yes. Cubase is concidered the industry standard what audio/midi sequencers on a Windows-based system concerns (or at least that's what the hype says). But as VP said it all depends on what you need. Since Cubase is just a sequencer, you'll need either plugins or hardware equipment to put it to any use. You should also check out Cakewalk's Sonar 3, which is the same kind of program (but without surround facilities!). Which one is better is more a preference thing than anything else, but at least I prefer the GUI of Sonar to that of Cubase. But then I've been a Cakewalk user for some years. |

It's a great program, but I personally prefer Reason 2.5 over it

Hey! Theres no need whatsoever to be sorry for asking questions! And especially not when the post acctually means something (for you, or others). VP wines a little to much sometimes
Still, posts like this one could maybe be put in "Music Production" instead of "General".

CuBase SX is a great program if you really need it. Personally, I use it to record guitars and vocals, and I must say that the program fits my needs down to the last note. Also, I sometimes use VST's, VSTi's and hardware synth-modules for that "extra wide" sound.. but only when Rewired to Reason 2.5.
Reason 2.5 with CuBase SX works like magic.. just apply some imagination.
