although, when i was listening to RAVE-n's previews, the sound difference between the reason only version and VSTized version was incredible huge

There is a little catch tho... i put enourmusly LESS efford in reason songs that i know
will be VSTized. Tho i doubt I could reasch the same quality in the same amount of time, probably never.
Tho it is true that reason consume less CPU that 3 instances of VSTs + 3 VST efects, it is realy a compromise, especialy on the synths. Both synths sound somehow weak my themselfs, so you have to use many and apply many effects to them to sound somehow comparrable to VST.
Less CPU, less quality one might say, tho with skillfull use, reason can sound fantasticaly as prooven by some.
Only thing there is that Reason sucks in and there is no way on earth to convince me differently is BASS.. reason bass gets muddy and indefinite, and there is nothing realyl you can do about, except to use samples and try to stay away with EQ and compressor.
There is also another thing. Effects in Reason are(appart of Vocoder, new reverb and Scream, which are pretty good) medicore at best. Sure, you can wire 10 delays, compressorrs phasers and chorouses etc. ... and still works on mid end computer. You can't do that in VST.
But once you tried a good VSTi compressor, or good EQ , or try out some REALLY good VST reverbs.... you'll feel stupid in Reason..
Ofcourse there is one GREAT advantage of reason.... its easy to use, stable,
and most of all its fun to use.
You can use VSTs when you know exactly what you want and how you'll do that.
In reason, you can just play around and do stuff for fun.
Conclusion:Reason is fantastic tool to create excellent amateur music with less sweat that does not need crystal clear sound, sparkling reverbs and a perfect sonic spectrum . It is possible to create a proffesion sounding track with it, but you better be rally tallented sound engeneer to do that, and invest a lot of time getting it sound right(or have really good samples )
