There's a "Suggest New Genre" button below the genre list that leads to what you want.

Rave is the ancestor to trance sort of, hard breaks mixed in with lovely synth like melodies and often vocals in "scooter form" , come to think of it, most of scooters music is classified as rave, you might try listening to some old prodigy albums too!
IMO the most "rave" one would be "Experience"

Gawd I miss marusha!

I think nowadays rave is being replaced with minimal tehno or atleast in Slovenia where they call "Rave Party" partys where there in minimal tehno going on and they call "Ravers" those who like it :D .So im not sure if we need new genre for this, people can use either tehno or maybe dance and specify subgenre "rave" for it.

Yay!

Prodigy's early stuff is a good example of top notch rave schnitz0r - I don't recommend 'experience' though, if you want to listen to rave music. Its a fine album, one I own quite proudly - but its filled with lesser known remixes of the good stuff.

Best Prodigy early stuff in my opinion :-

Everybody is in the place (Fairground mix)
Charley (alley cat mix)
Pandemonium
Your Love (goddamn, this track will blow your mind ^-^)

Oh! and BTW - I just released a RAVE track under the new RAVE GENRE :D

whats taters?

Also, tunes at around 125bpm, with hoover samples, make gr9 rave tunes :)

Check out Second Phase - Mentasm, or Isotonik - Different Strokes

if you can't find them, mail me, I have them ;)

If any of you have seen Basic Instinct, it features Channel X - Rave the rhythm. A good example

Rave is most recognizable because of it's kick and happy melodies. The kick is like in all those very very old and happy hardcore tunes!
