No. Totaly useless stuff. Difference between CTG, TiS and HM is CTG is still up and running

Unless you're totally naive, you should know better. The reason the first two sites are down is because of financial problems, not because of their commitment to quality reviews.

You shouldn't take all that seriously

Isn't there an automated PM that gets sent when a new person joins CTG: "Welcome to CTG" or something?
Maybe this could simply be expanded to include the forum rules, reviewing rules, posting rules, links to "Good Example Reviews" , explanation of the review report system, and so and so on.
Maybe this would be too boring to read, but then maybe it if was written well and to the point, it would help move noobies in the right direction.
New Track: Let You Fall, and btw a98 is still my friend and N.D. knows it |

Be my guest :
Hello [username]!
Thank you for joining our music community site.
Since you joined this community, you gain ability to add and review tracks, control your own personal Guestbook, communicate with other members using Private Messages, and Chat.
You can set your own member Shortcut (your own personal url for your CTG page) and get a Subdomain. You can customize the site a little bit with your own personal custom background, add Polls to your page and the list goes on!
We will offer even more in the future, since we are always thinking how we could improve the site by adding new things, think about Compos, Free Samples and much more!
All your submitted music will be part of the CTG Charts, this way you can get some extra promotion if your songs are high on the charts. All the best songs are played on the CTG Radio.
If you show some activity as a reviewer, we will Promote your music around the site, and you can win free big banner, if you become the Reviewer Of The Week.
If you have not changed and filled in your profile already, then please do it as soon as possible, otherwise you will not be able to add your music, and your name will not appear on the artist list page.
If you have experience with the Scene, and if you are interested in helping CTG becoming a nice place to hang out, then please show some support by writing suggestions in our special forums section and you can also help by posting news.
Have fun in our community site if you have any questions simply reply to this message or send email to acecream@ctgmusic.com.
Have fun,

This current review moderation is actually way too loose for "good" reviews. A good review explains what is bad/good, but more important WHY it's bad/good and what can or should be changed. And really, 90% of all reviewers just say "I like this alot, and that is sucky". And to be honest, I'm getting pretty sick of that. You might see me as your everyday whiner, but I just have other thoughts then the crowd. Almost everybody only care about how much reviews they've done instead of the number of good reviews they have done. I know some very good reviewers, which maybe just have reviewed 20 or 30 tracks, but the number of words/letters is just about the same as those mass reviewers which maybe have done 150 reviews... maybe this can result in a new "chart" or "stat"; the overall number of words/letters you've used in all of your reviews. I think this is alot more fair then only the review number since that only show quantity, and not quality
But hell, with all these restrictions 80% will stop reviewing and the whole community is gonna blame me, so never mind
sigh |

Here, here! I'd rather have a handful of meaningful reviews, than masses of crap reviews.
I'm pissed at the world, can you tell? |

well theres this little feature that turns off the ability to get reviews and i am quite happy with it.
theres simply too few good reviewers here that actually take care in writing a review and most other reviewers only do it to either get reviews themselves or as said before to get the reviewer of the week award.
if i want an in depth review of a tune i throw it on the sounding board as the reviews here never tell me anything about the track other than personal opinions usually given by people who dont like the genre but write a socalled review anyway. in most cases they were basically saying 'i want a hard pounding trance track' while they were listening to an ambient or orchestral piece. ive had exactly this on several tracks i had on here and had removed all of them because of that.
in my opinion a review should adress different aspects of a tune and not just say 'this is good' 'that is bad'. if one feels the need to give such feedback id rather have it in a comment. |

I disagree. We haven't REAL crappy reviews wich was aim when system was formed on autumn. We had a purpose to create system wich could clean worst ones away (wich has been success) while major aim was to guarantee several reviews to each song ( wich is also succeed) as on this standpoint we have music site where 99% of songs has reviews and almost all songs have received feedback.
Consider this: touching the line of rules drops quantity drastically. We face the fact more and more songs lefts up without any feedback, since harsh system deactvates whole site. THink about past, have you guys from TiS and HM learn anything? Heavy system demotivates all. In HM we had situation that nuber of songs grew faster than number of reviews, Practially over 1500 songs were without feedback when site went down. I've understood the same situation prevailed on Tis. So it's general question and I'm completely against Slammy's idea |

Actually, TiS's system had more motivation on me to review, than CTg does |
