It seems I already voted, but I actually started out with the PLAY command in BASIC, followed by some MIDI program on my Amiga I can't remember the name of. That is, until I found MED - and later OctaMED - and everything went uphill from there.

it was years ago with a msx turbo computer but i cannot remember the name of the tracker. the name had something with «moon…» in it (?). … moonsound or moonblaster … i don't know.

I started out with the hex editor. I chosed the format 44khz 16-bit wav, cause it wasn't too complicated. Since each byte is represented by two hex numbers, I had to enter 352800 such numbers to get 1 second of audio. First I thought it was amazing, since I never had any limits, like synths and samples has. I mean, if wanted the sound of a 200 oscillator synth lead, I could just do a quick calculation in my head and start writing the hex code.
In the end though, I got bored of the time consuming process (although I'm a fast typer), and moved on to Renoise.

The first program I ever touched was Ejay actully, hehe. That sucked so I went on to fasttracker and then madtracker. Now its FL studio. FL STUDIO! <3
