Downloading the mix now, and I'll most certainly check out all the other mixes as well at some stage. Having these sort of mixes is a great idea I think, because I can see how it would let you re-live some of the top tracks of that particular time.
I notice quite a number of different artists have made the mixes before this one though, and I'm wondering if I can apply to be one of those for any mixes to come? What is involved? Do you use a software DJ program to beat sync and join them all together? Are any of the tracks mastered if they're modules? Multi-band compression on any other final mixes? I have all the production tools to produce something like this and I'd most certainly be interested if there's a possibility...

Everybody is welcome to make a mix. Trance, non trance it's all up to you
Most mixers use Traktor DJ, but I'm more familiar with VirtualDJ.
In a few weeks I will release an article about VirtualDJ with the techniques I personaly use.

So I can even select all the tracks myself? Well it wouldn't be trance seeing as though there have already been a lot of those, and it wouldn't really appeal to me anyway. But I sure do have another idea...just as soon as I find some suitable tracks.
Well I have a copy of AtomixMP3 somewhere so I could use that, but I'll most likely check out some newer programs.

Well what's wrong with other forms of electronic music genres such as progressive house, lounge, tech-house, electronica, IDM or downtempo? I'm sure there'd be others here interested in hearing something other than what has been done before, and some of it I just find so much more artistic and appealing than your every day trance track. Don't get me wrong...I like some trance, but it's the majority that really annoys me.

Good idea, diversity is the key
There's so much you could do.
- Drum&bass mix
- R&B mix
- Ambient mix
- ...
I allready have an idea for the next one, but since I did a lot of mixes I'm gonna wait a month or two. I think we should raise the bar a little higher. Not just mixing one song after another. How about scratching and stuff , backward playing, fading effects, filters,...

I apologise...for some reason I got the intention you were flaming me for disagreeing with the majority here who I believe like trance music and who I thought were in part responsible for the majority of trance mixes before. So sorry about that!
AKiSey: Yeah, I would love to do some sort of progressive/electronica/IDM/downtempo kind of mix. Music more for your mind rather than for the dancefloor, but still very moving and inspiring. I find the house mix very good actually, as it already has some great tracks that fit this kind of catagory.
I don't know about ambient mixes working so well played one after another, as I believe the journey trough an individual ambient track is a crucial part of the genre, and mixing them together just wouldn't work and people might lost interest after a while. Drum & Bass or R&B could work, though I'm not too sure on these genres or whether or not there are sufficient tracks available here.
But, let me know if I can start looking around for some tracks that might be suitable for what I have in mind. Or should I get confirmation from the site admins first?

Well to me techno is such a big word. Kind of like electronic describing all electronic genres, only then techno describes a subset of those. Ok I know it's supposed to be a entirely seperate genre on its own as well, but no, I'm not too familiar with it. It's probably a bit too harsh and powerful-sounding for my liking, but I can't say I don't like it at all.
Anyway, it really doesn't matter too much whether or not I like the type of music too much anyway. It's the making of the mix that counts and whether people like the end result or not. I'm sure if I could I'd do both a progressive/electronica/IDM/downtempo kind of mix as well as a techno mix anyway. Or perhaps someone else wants to? I don't really get why there doesn't seem to be such a high demand for making these mixes.
