I still rate stamk as the greatest tracked song ever, but there's no way you made that in 4 hours. It must have taken longer, or else the rest uf us might just as well stop making music altogether.

It's really a very simple piece of music. If you look at it closely, almost the whole thing is cut and paste with very small variations.

I remember this piece. My impression of it was: "It's copy and paste with small bariations, but it's nice anyway". It is a simple piece of music, but it's nice.

actually i kinda saw this coming.
i knew from the start that when the CMC > MIC transformation began, it wouldn't last.... i think that the CMC way was better.

oh, and i still sketch all my tracks in Modplug Tracker (my one true love), then post it into renoise>samplitude(rewire>reason - just for the sound....

so....

That's an interesting way of woring. I've thinking of doing that myself. However, I would have to track in .xm and take care not to use too many channels (what was the max in FT? 64, right? I can handle that).

Guys, why not completely compose with Renoise? It's an excellent all-in-one tool. FT2 just supports 32 channels... Renoise 64 channels (and besides you can have one instrument in each of them and still it sounds natural, in FT you had to place out every instrument on several channels in order to make it sound natural.)

Modplug supports 256 channels. And the interface is better than Renoise's. I'm trying to switch to renoise, but there are some annoying things. I don't like that, when I keep my finger on the keyboard, Renoise starts inserting the note many times! Why must it do that?! That "instrument sounding natural in one single channel" you are describing is because of "Note Off". Impulse Tracker had that already. And Modplug has it too, since it supports .it files. Moreover, that's thereason why I started using the .it format instead of .xm. I migrated from FT2 to Modplug, you know. And trying to migrate to Renoise, GUI-wise, seems like going back. Feature-wise, though, Renoise is great.

EDIT: Renoise's instruments support only 16 samples!!! Am I supposed to use high quality multisapmpled instruments in Renoise?! I don't think so.

Goodbye! And then there are fuckheads like Vizion and Sergeeo, among others, who have robbed the tracking scene of much of the fun it once held for me.

And since I see no reason to (literally!) lose sleep over something that's entirely voluntary and no longer fun to do, the logical thing is to stop doing it.

Well, obscene, the first post you made about that hotel job? I think it's just an excuse for Novus himself. There's more going on. He dislikes the fact that ppl stopped filesharing, and I can't complain about that. A lot of ppl don't like that including me. I'm moving on though, while some ppl never get over it.

Anywayz, I've only seen CMC once, and never been to MIC. I can't say that I'm sad about it, novus lost a battle that was already lost when he started it.

(hehe, if I'm not going to get in trouble because of this.....)

Come on! The guy worked 14 hours a day and found time to run the compo!!! How many of you guys are capable of that? That's not an excuse! He loved that compo!

Modplug supports 256 channels. And the interface is better than Renoise's.

I think the interface is the thing that makes people to choose programs, so while you think that, I think the opposite. And if I've understood it right, the new Renoise version (1.5) will support unlimited channels.

I'm trying to switch to renoise, but there are some annoying things. I don't like that, when I keep my finger on the keyboard, Renoise starts inserting the note many times! Why must it do that?!

Well, if you are in edit mode it will do that. So, just turn off the edit mode. If you are in edit mode and push Play, you can keep your finger at the keyboard without editing a lot of notes as well, and when you let the finger go it will place a note-cut.

If there are other commands that you rather would like to have at other keys and such things, there are a configuration editor that is there to satisfy your needs. Go to "Configs" and then "Keyb/Mouse".

That "instrument sounding natural in one single channel" you are describing is because of "Note Off". Impulse Tracker had that already. And Modplug has it too, since it supports .it files. Moreover, that's thereason why I started using the .it format instead of .xm.

Ok, I see. Anyway, I was comparing FT2 to Renoise anyway, not any other programs.

I migrated from FT2 to Modplug, you know. And trying to migrate to Renoise, GUI-wise, seems like going back. Feature-wise, though, Renoise is great.

Yes.

EDIT: Renoise's instruments support only 16 samples!!! Am I supposed to use high quality multisapmpled instruments in Renoise?! I don't think so.

Not sure if I know what you mean here, but as far as I know Renoise supports as many instruments/samples as FT2; 128

Can somebody kill this thread already?

Look, peeps... MIC is dead. There's no need to attack it. There's also no need to defend it. Move on.

Geez...

Apparently it is the fall of an era. The fall of your compo may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

But I use Reason anyway so I only hate this for the others :D

The fall of an era? The straw that broke the camel's back? :excited:

That's a good one.

No, the era ended a while ago. Same with the camel's back breaking. But it had nothing to do with file-sharing, MP3s, Renoise, Fruity Loops, MIC, or any form of musical technology.

Just look around inside this one thread alone. You'll figure it out.

As an official PPH interpreter I can inform you that PPH in this case is upset (you can tell by the triplicated exclamation marks) about the support for instruments in Renoise limits the amount of samples to 16 per instrument. Furthermore he does not think he's supposed to use high quality multisampled instruments with Renoise.
