BAH! all you n00bs don´t know anything >)
here is a link which will explain it ALL! (<- please note my irony)
http://www.ishkur.com/features/music/index.htm# (70 hits)
But seriously, apart from this joke (which as some neato facts in it)
I think most people don´t know what they´re producing these days,
and I don´t think most of them care about it either!
this is a disturbing sign that the scene is going towards a more
poporiented view upon music, and thats not good!
But thats just me, with my FT2 program, im a dinosaur here now.

To be of totally opposite in thought, I'd have to say that most people have a good idea of what they are making, though this comes more apparent the longer you spend time making a certain style of music. Newbies probably won't have a clue (unless they are using programs oriented for a certain genre) whereas old farts like me have a very good idea of what I'm trying to do and how badly I'm going wrong.
It's all about conformity and entropy. Human society is all about conformance to one group or another, and this generates a reduction in entropy, hence indicating a convergent trend....
Oops, left the glue lid off again.

Why not?
Back in the early 90's.... there was HARDCORE TECHNO
I'm pissed at the world, can you tell? |

Actually, we used to have these lenghty genre discussions over at TiS too , it was fun as hell to argue , but we mainly used stupid arguments
(stupid as in, it had no relevance to music whatsoever)
and as Whirloop said, the link was a SARCASTIC one
I hate it when people try to classify every little detail in music and putting it
into small genre spaces, however, I also hate it when someone puts a
totally wrong genre on a song, such as the oh-so-hated trance/techno
mixup. I even heard somewhere some n00b calling Dr bombay
techno(ages ago) it still cracks me up to no end.
Hmm, I wonder how many artists here have this dual genre latched onto their songs?
Hehe, Im gonna have a looksie
edit: Wow, contrary to my beliefs , there weren´t that many !
actually I found a rather extensive repertoar of trance subgenres instead
go CTG!
*impressed*
