Hi guys!
Hope it's OK for me to post my remix contest here. If so, here it goes:
You remix my track "The Picture" (in any style/genre you want).
Prizes: Best Remix wins a CD full of clubby choons.
Plus, all the remixes (including the winning one) will be sent to the record labels I'm affiliated with (INgrooves and Harmonic Distortion Records) and if the label likes one mix it will be released or included on a compilation etc.
Also all the remixes will be uploaded to my music page with links to your own sites.

It's a simple track and so are the samples. Basically there is vocals,guitar,bass and melody.
Concerning the vocals: I think I read in some other topic that people don't want echo effects in vocals when they remix a track. Well, this vocal has a little echo effect but it's not too much, plus it's not like it's a full song or anything, it's just a small vocal line, so I hope it won't be a problem.

i don't really see the original song as something that any label would sign. the guitar is nice aswell as the vocals, but the song needs a lot of work. the guitar doesn't really go in time, and the beat and rest of backgrounds sound amateur.

a98 I'm downloading "May Day Dream 2004". I'm on a slow connection, so it hasn't fully downloaded yet, but from what I've heard so far it's fantastic.
You say you like the guitar and the vocals. Don't you think if those were combined with your own brilliant production skills something really good would come out?
The final decision is up to you but I'm almost certain it would (and indeed those vox would sound good in a melodic trance mix).
Also it's not a matter of whether a label would sign this. I've already released stuff on the two labels I mentioned, so it's only a matter of sending the new tracks/remixes to the people I know there. Then it's up to them.

ok what i ment is that the track is really potential, but it sounds very unfinished, and if you are sending the original track and remixes to the label shouldn't the original atleast be topnotch?

In clubland it doesn't work that way. How many times hasn't a label pushed a remix instead of the original song? Sometimes even making radio edits of the remix which was then released as the lead track!!
Not too mention instances where we never even heard the original! (Harry's Afro Hut-"C'mon Lady"(Eric Prydz Remix) on Positiva comes to mind!)
And let's don't forget Armand Van Helden who got to Number One in the Official UK chart with his transformed remake of Tori Amos-"Professional Widow"!!
Record labels couldn't care less if a track is the original or a remix, as long as they think it's good (or in the case of most of them, if they think it will sell!!!).

dude, it would be easier to remix if you also released the midid to these files, kinda kool track tho, has alot of potential, and i do agree with a98 that it sounds unfinished  liek your style tho.
