This is a tutorial, about how you can create airy sounds, with almost any analogue, or virtual analogue synth. Works great with Reason's Subtractor.

You can read this tutorial in our community area.

Actually, I have no idea myself, I havn't used Reason. (However, someone else tried the trick with Reason and said it works fine).

My guess (by looking at the screen shots) would be, that you disable Osc 2, and turn the "Mix" knob to it's maximum value, so only the Osc 2 output (none) is heard. Or if that don't work, perhaps you could use a squarewave with maximum pulse width (altrough you might get a nasty DC offset). Another way, is of course, to set Osc 1, and 2, to play exactly the same thing (and mixed equally loud), except that Osc 1 plays an up saw, and Osc 2 a down saw. Then phase invertation would make the sound disapear.
Fortunately, my music is much more interesting than my posts.

This would be sufficient

You don't necessarily need to disable any oscillators. Most synths I know of have white noise waveforms and not noise generators, so you wouldn't need to turn off the oscs and mess with phase cancellation or whatever.

Very true :) My Waldorf Microwave XTk, which I use this trick with, has a separate noise generator, but luckily, all oscs can be switched off.

Anyways, did anyone find my trick useful?

I should add, don't forget to try the "hint" thing, at the bottom of my tutorial. It's really neat, it sounds almost, but not entierly unlike a vocoder.

This looks awesome. I'm having a hell of a time learning all this synth stuff. If anyone knows of anywhere I can find out some more about synth creation, please let me know!
