great productions, awesome remixes, but I dont think that he's a great DJ. I do beleive that he deserves it though.
'Just Be' (the whole album) was awesome imo. The worst tracks were 'good' tracks, and the best track (Ur) is an absolute killer.
Besides, his ISOS cd's used to be very great. :-)

Gotta disagree on the great productions, some of them (nyana, traffic...) are good, and some arnt. He has some amazing remixes though! And also amazing coops in the past (Gouryella, Kamay Painters) but i still dont think he should be awarded best DJ.

I belive it is the opposite since "his" songs are generaly done by producers who do the music under his name (i dont think there is a single person who could produce as many songs as there are under the tiesto handle (just be album, remixes, ...) ) But as dj he does everything personaly so it is not questionable that he is da man  He did some of the biggest dj shows and i belive his name is most recognizable dj name on this planet, so yes he is the one who deserves the no1 spot.

Yes he deservers it. He is a fine dj within the biggest dance genre we have, so he meets a lot of demands
on top of that I know he will spin techno very nicely actually, the guy can amaze you , I do think he isn't as skilled in different techiques as most well know techno or hiphop dj's for that matter.
productionwise I think tiesto is very very weak, I pissed my pants on the just be album and cried. Thing is indeed, mister Tijs Verwest has sound engineers working for him to create the sounds he wants, which imo disqualifies him as a producer. I really think his productions wouldn't be anywhere near what we hear without their help. Do mind I can be wrong, it's just something I think .
Tijs deserves the dj award for sure, he simply has the best comination of promotion, musical taste and dj skills atm... so yea, why not
