CTG_Christmas_Compo_2004
As last year, CTG Music Community decided to organise our fun Christmas music compo again. Last year we had very nice, sometimes very funny, sometimes beautiful compositions, this year we expect the same, with even more participants.

The rules are similar, but slightly different: last year you could remix a famous Christmas song, now this year the rule is to remix a popular (commercial) song to Christmas style.

So here are the details:
  • 1. You need to do a remix of a well known, popular commercial song. You can choose an instrumental track or a song with singing, in any genre, but we advise you to pick a popular, well-known one, at least which is known by our community well.
  • 2. You need to submit your remix by the end of 23th December!
  • 3. We believe we do not have to empahise, that you cannot use any samples from the original track in your remix!
Instructions and hints how to participate:
  • 1. Add your song to CTG under the genre "Christmas compo"
  • 2. Add your song in mp3 format so that everyone can listen to it!
  • 3. Write info about which song you have remixed (in song title or in song description)
How will we pick the winner? Simple, each song will be normally reviewed and the song with highest average rating will win the compo. Only reviews written before 26 December 2004 will count for the overall rating. So if you submit song tomorrow all reviews from tomorrow till the end of 26th December will count for overall rating.

Since the deadline is very short you better start working on it right away

    Christmas Compo 2004 results:

    1. Elmer Bernstein - Ghostbusters (LiquidRadiation's It's Santa Mix) (44 points)

    2. Gigi D'Agostino - L'Amours Toujours (N.D. X-Mas Remix) (37 points)

    3. Synop - Barbie Girl (12 points)

Special thanks goes to members who took their time for voting:

i maintain that if the song doesn't contain samples from the original, it's a cover and not a remix.

ehh, no.
A cover is when someone does a song in the same way as the original band.
A remix is basicly making your own version of another song.

ehh, no. a cover doesn't need to sound like the original at all.

Well, you might be right (or not), but in that case most of the remixes are covers here in ctg, or I really hope they are...
